Some batties are claiming none are available.

Possibly because batty has yet to discover search engines. And anyway, even if they managed to perform a basic search, unless it's batty approved it's just not real.

Far be it from me to tell someone else how to spend his money but that price is absurd.

Well...many things have been considered absurd in pricing, i.e. GTO for 1 Million? And before, much much less ...and now?

GTO for bazillions now, still think it is absurd?

Bookstores say they have them, albeit could be far from true, while they are desperately seeking for a seller
    for a 'potential' buyer.
Yet after this 'coup', the market is going to change, even though you might think it is absurd pricing,
and would you now sell your copy for less? Now, all Miura book owners have a new baseline.

Standards, are just that. Standards that are set, and, for instance, difficult to go back to a Dino for 50 grand.

Comparing a book with a GTO or a Dino isn’t really a strong analogy. The price of real estate, which is cyclical, could also be an analog….but it isn’t, either. Anyone who buys the book now, if your “baseline” theory is applicable, is buying it strictly as an investment. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Of course, everyone who owns the book is going to hope you’re right! I’d say that it’s much better to be a seller of this book right now than a buyer. I’m neither, so I can opine without risk. If I were lucky or smart enough to have a copy I’d be a seller right now!;)

Nonsense. Let me know how many you want at 4k.

The new and improved "baseline" will be crushed by Reality.

    There's Reality and batty "reality".

How true you are! I would be a seller in a nano second!
It has become as great as E-types hardtops, at first they were cheap, then now 5 figures.
It all started by one smart guy. Do you think the "wire sculptures" on BaT will ever reach higher than now, or the 'man cave' engine tables?

The world has become like this. People have 3rd parties write their checks, while at the 'club', and don't even look at their accounts.
E-bay is slumming, 'polite people' don't go to e-bay. PayPal? My secretary pays by wire, old man...
We all have of course, but 'some' will not.
Say Jeeves, fetch me a Martini while I peruse BaT...

Do you see some absurdities there (BaT), as the various not very good toolkits (Ferrari) that have been selling every past few days?
Yet people do buy them. The BaT syndrome. If you really wanted 100% Kosher toolkits, I assume you go to an expert dealer.
You have to be a 'purist' though...

OK, if you like, GTO were high 4 figures at a time, and there was no line to buy.
Dino @ 40K Vs. 800K now, people are all over them, and produced in the thousands (3K +/-). Things do tend to move.
As in all graphs / charts, there are psychological barriers, ever follow the 'Futures Market' ? Baseline values.
$199.95, has always sounded better than $200.95, the law of pricing. $1 makes you go 'long /short'.

BaT is all about psychological barriers, and as far as the book goes on the next sale,
"What if they gave a War, and nobody came".
    That, is always a possibility.

    Regards, Alberto

I bought it (and the register) to read and enjoy.

I hope I'm never in a financial situation where I need to sell it to keep the lights on.

Is this a new record for the "regular " Not jota ed. Miura book? Last I saw one was going for 7k or 8? Not sure if it sold cause wasn't an auction.

The record is £29,100 for a standard edition. That was the charity auction for book No. 1. This BaT auction is the highest I’ve seen for a non-charity auction.

Agree, and this is what happens when some people decide to screw the market up. The same goes for the car market, book market, etc. The last decade is something like a rollercoaster...

I believe that the bubble burst is close...
