How do you mean this exactly? I thought, this is a discussion board here. But o.k., I will not give future statements regarding your cars. Best Martin
No, Martin: it's the contrary. I have to thank the forum as you all forced me to ask my mechanic for a problem I didn't know there was. He told me you all are right and it's not easy to swap cam covers. But they can do it as they are aware of the problems and already did it many times. At Toni shop usually arrive engines badly fixed with errors like the one you are talking about (or even bigger, as I saw a French 400 engine just fixed that could't even turn due to a bad cranckshaft alignment with the cranckcase...), from all Europe. Thank you all very much as you helped me to learn that I have a very good mechanic! ciao
I`m absolutely sure that your guys from Toni Auto know what they are doing ! there comes the time when one simply has to trust
I thought you were arguing on another thread that these cars had to be all original and not improved? Or am I mixing you up?
You are right. But i had to bore the slivers due to too much play in three of them, so I had to bore them all as you cannot have different pistons: no other possibility if you want to keep the factory slivers. The mechanic told me that's happened for a too rich A/F ratio in those three cylinders: a problem that we found immediatly just I got the car from the previous owner. And then here we just express opinions: everyone can do what he wants with his car, of course. My opinion is to keep the cars as original as possible, but there are pieces you have to change or modify due to age, as the originals are unavailable or a nonsense to install (for example the soduim valves, I got state odf the art ones, of course) ciao
Ahh, the slippery slope. Big valves, 360 crank next. Of course. I just hope they remember to drive them - although that seems to be less of an issue with 308 owners than some other models.
