Well....it has been almost 60 days since my last roadtrip. This time it's a one way job. I'm heading to Houston, to meet my dad there, and drive his new 550 back to California.

Though I hope it's not quite as eventful as the last Ferrari road trip, I'm sure there will be plenty of adventures and hopefully some cool pics. And the time with my dad will be great as we live quite far from each other and I don't see him as much as I wish.

I'm not quite sure of the route yet. But you can bet that if we go north I'll make a strong case for stopping in Duchesnes. Chances are we will stay south and avoid the weather, stop in LA and head up hwy 1 towards San Francisco.

Here's to a few more BLTs, and more Ferrari miles. :)

If your route takes you to Colorado Springs, let me know. May be too far north, though.

550 should be a great car. EVO magazine gave it "Best Drivers Car" of the decade, even over the 575.

Good luck and have a great time. Oh and if you go through DFW area, you should stop by and say hi to our fearless leader Rob.

    Vincent,
Try stop by Dallas, the home of F-chat! Other Dallas member will have an excuse for getting drunk... (not they need it) Seriously, it's only 2-3 hours drive from Houston.

Enjoy the drive & road. Good luck!

I-10 = the most boring road in America. I suggest cutting diagonally across Texas (State Hwy 71 thru the Hill Country to Brady, then US 87 & 84 to hook up with I-40 in New Mexico. There is more to see and more interesting roads to drive going this way. BTW, you might want to install a bra, the love bugs are THICK in Texas right now. Just a thot, hope you have a safe trip.

Best of luck, Vince! Not that you'll need it but the law enforcement in Texas is supposed to be a little on the rough side - especially when they pull over one of those new Mustangs. :D

The best BLT in Houston is at Carter and Cooley sandwich shop on 19th St.

    It's not far from Speedy's house, he's on 18th.....

    Have fun Vincent!!!!!

IIRC he does prefer heading up to I40 via Dallas, as he did with his 355.

    thanks for the good wishes!

This trip was a bit less eventful, but it was a fantastic experience indeed.

A father and son Ferrari trip blows away any father son golf tournament out there. Once again I feel pretty lucky that I am able to experience such a thing. Of course I had to prod Dad a bit to buy the Ferrari, but a couple of drives in mine did the trick. Then I had to convince him that a 550 is the right car for him. He believes!!!! And I now know what the 550 hoopla is all about, what a terrific land jet.

I have to say that taking on the road in the 550 is akin to flying in a learjet that never really takes off. It's well appointed and very fast!

Here we are at the dealership.
