awesome is it not FAA approved to wrap a plane? that looks like a very complex (and expensive) paint job.
There probably aren't any FAA-approved aircraft wrapping materials, and if there are, they are probably more expensive than painting! I'm sure they would be worried about it coming off in flight and becoming FOD.
A wrap would probably not last more than a few months on an Airliner. Occasionally we have really large stickers on our planes and after a short while they start to get torn away.
hmmm.... not exactly a commercial 737, but here's a wrapped airplane: http://www.iconographystudios.net/kozloff-enterprises-airplane-wrap/
Does Boeing throw those videos in with every new aircraft purchase? I know someone who purchased a couple of 777s new, and they got at least one of those videos as well, showing their aircraft being built.
Boeing has time lapse digital cameras in most of the production bays. The tail mounted camera view is only done occasionally. Boeing does use "wraps". Mostly for complex tail graphics. The wraps aren't as UV stable as most aircraft paint nor as long lived but they do get used. The wrap interferes with structural inspections so you have to peel it off to inspect. Paint doesn't
