IMO he's picked his game up since mid last year. He's driving every bit as good as 2006 to pre accident 2009. He's in a great team full with people that appreciate him.
Don't think his quite that good Bas, first he was a lot better in 2007 than in 2006, he was a lot better again in 2008 (where to me he was the best driver in the field) and again in 2009...seing how he whiped the floor with Button at Silverstone while driving that dog of a car against the Brawn just shows how really good Massa was.....had Alonso encountered that same driver at Ferrari he would have left a lot earlier IMO.
If Micheal like massa that good enough for me massa kick kimi butt till the mishap . Impo the clown hack lawyer ferrari was all about making fred a winner . Massa has good people at Williams right now he knows his role and works to get the best results. Can't say the same for fred and kimi
Time to dig this one out. Not finding your spot on the grid and causing an aborted start is normally something only a rookie would do. And what followed in the race wasn't much better.
Yup - but first came Massa getting outqualified by his teammate by 0.592 seconds. In the race, Bottas moved up (until the puncture) and Massa went back.
A few years ago, Massa was off the proper starting position and Marshals moved his car back to lineup the ground to car transponders. After the race, Massa said he can never see the area and has to feel where the car sits.
Oh yea i remember that. I met Massa in person. That dude is probably my height or even shorter. And i'm short~5'5
Everyone cut Massa a lot of slack for sucking in his final year last year, so this thread didn't get any action despite Massa getting trounced by his teammate once again, but since he decided to unretire this year, he's fair game for 2017! In only the second race of 2017, Massa showed once again major suckage... putting in the worst performance of any driver who finished the race. Starting 6th, he managed to drop 8 places, finishing 14th... or, second last. He barely managed to beat Ericsson in the Sauber! Massa (6th to 14th) lost places to Verstappen (16th to 3rd), Sainz (11th to 7th), Magnussen (12th to 8th), Hulkenberg (12th to 7th), Ocon (17th to 10th), Grosjean (19th to 11th), even Palmer (20th to 13th)! He should have been faster than all of those except perhaps the Red Bull of Verstappen... Williams sold out when they decided to take the ultimate pay driver Stroll, then doubled down by selling Bottas to Williams.
Talking about major suckage, it is known that the Williams for years meant you finished dead last if there is a hint of moisture in the air. Better reserve judgement on suckage for dry races.
Well, he *did* retire. They brought him back to set up the car for the pay driver. Who has been doing more "strolling" than "driving". When Williams has to resort to pay drivers, they've resigned themselves to a sweep-up position. A bunch of Sunday drivers.
In his latest Motorsport.com column, Williams driver Felipe Massa recounts a disappointing second race of the F1 season in China, in which the Grove-based team was hit with peak levels of tyre degradation (and penurity of drivers) https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/massa-column-chinese-gp-hopes-wrecked-by-tyre-degradation-892928/?s=1 Yeah, as a Brazilian I tend to root for my fellow countrymen, but c'mon, we don't deserve to watch his races...
https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/massa-warns-verstappen-after-brazilian-remark-895052/?s=1 I quite didn't understood what was VER thinking when he said that... But Massa acting like a brazilian vigilante sounds like playing to the crowd, though...
Massa did his usual move over to the left for a right hander and offered no fight towards the cars behind him. He has no race craft and must be the easiest driver to pass in F-1.
