Don't know how many, if any, on this thread read Chris Balfe of Pitpass who writes regularly on F1. He's just written a piece on Michael's accident and the situation that's worth a read. Here's the url: We don't need to talk about Michael - Pitpass.com
He makes some valid points, I think this thread has covered this area, it is the thirst for knowledge and the need to sell papers that drives it.
Same here. Never thought I'd be reminiscing about F1 engine sound, let alone the days when a healthy MS did what he does best...
Thanks ferraripete. I just feel it'll be good for the mojo if we throw caution and speculation to the wind for awhile and just believe in the best for a bit. Be happy some sort of decent news has come our way and just be positive and believe it will blossom. Just let it happen. Leave him and his family alone to deal with what is truly a private family matter and not feed the Paparazzi. (anyone that has been in a situation like this can relate that we all just want a closed room and sometimes don't even have the time or energy for the closest of friends) If it comes down to six months from now I'm wrong, it'll be six months that I don't picture a human being helpless in a bed. I feel it's time to not question things and just give the guy a chance. I'll live with that lie, if it is one, for now.
One of Michael Schumacher's personal sponsors is ending its deal with the embattled F1 legend. For years, advertising campaigns for the bottled mineral water brand Rosbacher have regularly featured a bare-chested Schumacher in various sporting poses. Earlier this month, as the seven time world champion remained in intensive care in the wake of his late December skiing fall, parent company Hassia Gruppe's chief Dirk Hinkel said he continued to back Schumacher. "We remain committed to him and his family," he said, "and send him our best wishes." Hinkel said at the same time that the more than eight year collaboration with Schumacher had led to "a much higher awareness" of the Rosbacher brand. But the Swiss Sunday newspaper Sonntagsblick reports that Hinkel has apparently had a change of heart. Just as it emerges that Schumacher has left intensive care in France and transferred to a Swiss rehabilitation hospital, the report claimed the great 45-year-old's Rosbacher contract will not be extended beyond 2014. "After that," a spokeswoman confirmed, "our advertising will be with the product alone."
There's 6:59 of my life I'll never get back. Silly me, I thought there would be video of a crash. Cheers, George
Yup. And it makes no difference to the situation IMO. I'm sure it's a lot of money they where spending annually and I think this situation has little to do with them stopping sponsorship; he was well and truly retired after 2012. In 2013 he kept pretty quiet (as he normally does when he's not racing).
The death of journalism is with us. First, the use of the term "embattled" in the first line of that article is really out of place. While Schuey is in a battle for his life, the term "embattled" is inappropriate in that context. I think that many in the press corps just use terms without thinking. Embattled is usually reserved for politicians under fire, or cities under siege. Using it to refer to someone's health is really bad taste. Second, Schuey is in a hospital bed. Is it really all that crazy for a company to quit using an image of him bare chested and healthy? To me, it is a measure of class to refrain such an image.
There is now a story that the family has apprehension that Michael's medical records might be subject to theft.
I suppose anything is possible, but the threat pf severe prosecution should warn off legitimate hospital employees. That said, if computer hackers can steal thousands of credit cards at a time, some hospital info should be no sweat... Interesting, but the market for the info is small, and the publisher of the news would be liable..
Just today I drove past a Rosbacher billboard [with a girl pictured on it] and wondered if they keep Schumacher. I don't think the Schumacher family needs the money and advertising with him would be seriously strange now, so the decision is totally understandable. For reference one of their ads attached. Schumacher medical records 'stolen' Here's an article about the stolen records. What a shameful thing do to... I'm appalled.
A sad statement on the current level of humanity. I recall someone stole one of his helmets, in for testing after a F1 crash... They thought the better of it, and returned it via a priest. It was worth about $40K....

I said it a few pages ago; the tmz style vultures are going to be all over that hospital. Truly scum of the earth to get a story. Just look at the phone hacking scandal/news of the world....
