Wife says Schumacher 'moving forwards' in rehab Corinna Schumacher has delivered an encouraging message about the progress of her injured husband. Now out of his long coma, F1 legend Michael Schumacher was transferred from intensive care in Grenoble to a Swiss rehabilitation clinic three weeks ago. No official updates have been provided since then, but his wife Corinna buoyed hopes this week when she appeared happy and beaming in a series of photos. According to the Mirror, during her first public appearance in months, Mrs Schumacher "laughed and joked" as she attended a horse riding event in Switzerland. Now, a quote has emerged in the German women's magazine Neue Post that adds to the feeling of optimism about seven time world champion Schumacher's future. "Moving forwards," said Corinna when asked about her husband's progress. "Slowly, of course, but at least we go forward."
The news is good but it is a long time since he got hurt. Based on what happened to my daughter and her head injury, I would say Michael was really hurt terribly and probably stayed close to death for some time. I am not a doctor but 6 plus months before any rehab is forever. It's not like the movies when you wake up and everything is fine. He probably can't talk and can barely hold up one finger when they ask him to and that's not everytime. He probably has a feeding tube, a trake, and can not even stand. He may not even stay awake except for short periods. I hope for the best for him and his family as they face challenging times. Hopefully he will become functional enough to take care of himself.
Wise move. I generally don't favor bans, but sometimes you just gotta put the guy in the chair and let him cool off. I have been there. A day or two away works.
Just before he was moved to the rehab clinic he was able to communicate with his family but it took a lot of effort and he got tired quickly. For safety reasons they kept him on the respirator at times but where able to take it off, so he is able to breath on his own. I'm no doctor either but this is going to be a process that's going to take a seriously long time. Even if he is wheelchair bound for the foreseeable future, it's a damn big improvement over what we knew 2 months ago .
the news is good but does still appear a bit thin to have been placed as a web headline story on msn. I remain hopeful however but I just keep my hopes well tempered. pcb
I didn't realize this was a known fact - that is very good news if it is... I am feeling more hopeful all the time that he will have a degree of meaningful recovery. On a lighter note I hope he could enjoy hearing the result of Germany thrashing Brazil.
I didn't know that either, like you say fantastic news if that's the case. And if he was a fan of football, a unreal result like that am sure would help.
He definitely is and hopefully that win sends even more positive energy his way Image Unavailable, Please Login
How many times has my name been mentioned? Some people are a tad over sensitive. I didn't see that as a personal attack. If someone said something like that to someone in the street you'd just call it a discussion between people who didn't agree on something. No one would be arrested. I have no dog in this fight, but gee the trigger's pulled a bit fast sometimes.
At least once for every time you've received either a warning or a temporary ban. Have you kept count? Of course not. This explains why you've had so many F-Chat "vacations." We get far, FAR more complaints about not taking action and allowing repeat offenders to continue to participate here than we do about being too trigger happy, BELIEVE ME.
I can't...I only have 10 fingers! Good...so you understand what I'm talking about. You probably do, because there are people around who are pathetically thin skinned. They need to grow a pair and grow up. That doesn't mean you don't pull the trigger too fast. Just one man's opinion. Look up how many complaints I've made about posts. Anyone who complains about 99% of the stuff that's complained about on here is taking the internet far too seriously. OTOH, I don't own the site, so my thoughts are irrelevant. I thought I'd give them anyway.....as I tend to.
Apparently at one race at the Nurburgring he had his steering wheel modified so that it would display the score at some germany VS whatever world cup game that happened during the time of the race. I think he likes football... I was too scared to ask myself (I know I've had a couple of warnings). Personally I thought a week is a bit excessive as I consider Ian to be a very valuable member to the F1 section, who has a bit of experience in F1.... Things get heated quickly in this section but as far as I know we're all adults here and we all come equipped with a spine. The poster Ian reacted on probably would've half expected such a comeback. If I didn't know any better it was purely bait and waiting for someone to bite. All that said, I don't know if Ian got an earlier (recent) warning on this very subject but in my personal opinion, a warning could've done fine. Ian has had warnings before and always adheres to them and will drop the subject.
I've been active on this site for twelve years. In that time I don't believe I've ever resorted to name-calling and insults. I don't treat people that way in the real world, and so I see no reason reason to do so here simply because "it's the internet" and they "need to grow a pair." Look at it this way: We have over 140,000 users. Out of all of those people, only an insignificantly small number have ever been warned or banned for insulting or attacking other users. (Yes, you're part of that insignificantly small group.) The rest of these people (the VAST majority of our users) don't feel that such behavior toward others is appropriate, whether in the real world or online. You call them "thin-skinned," but they would be equally justified in thinking that the behavior of the repeat offenders here is rude and immature. Now imagine that you did own this site and it was the source of your financial livelihood. Would you align your moderation style with the viewpoint of the 140,000 people who are "thin-skinned," or with that of a significantly smaller number of people whose behavior is "rude and immature?" And all of this over a one-week ban...
