Furio - I write mysteries and thrillers. I've been at it for about 14 years. Before that, I had an awful job in awful corporate America. I was happy to escape. :)

I don't understand how anyone thinks we're not respecting their privacy. We're not at their house. We're not sending drones over or trying to buy information from servants. The family has ensured that fans have no choice but to respect their privacy, so the continued call for it is really unneccessary.

Michael Schumacher was a public and beloved figure. He made his immense weath from his great talant AND the support of the public and his sponsors who are also supported by the public. Since his injury-nothing. In my opinion at least ,we deserve better. The family is wrong. The other racers who died recently has more thoughtful families.

Pretentious, snooty, country club types who look down on anyone who aren't in their "class"??

We have to choose our words carefully around here....they correct your grammar sometimes as well...

You're of course entitled to your opinion.

But I've got to note I *vehemently* disagree.

The entire mess is nothing to do with us. Leave them alone.

If there's any news I'm sure we'll get it when the time comes.

    Godspeed Michael

Public persons don't belong to the public.
They perform in front of the public, in arts, politics, sports, media, etc..., but outside their functions, they are entitled to their privacy.
It's dangerous when fans think they are allowed to know everything about the private lives of the people they admire.

    I think you deserve nothing!

Schumacher performed brillantly for many years and gave everything to his team, his fans and motorsport in general, but now the curtain is down, and the show is over.

The rest of his life is for him to share with his family, and has nothing to do with anyone else.

    Agreed.

IMO, this is a family matter and a family tragedy. Yes, we all wish him the best but in fact, its none of our business.

I just hope he gets better and his family endures whatever hardships they face.

The modern cult of celebrity has a lot to answer for. There was a time when privacy and decency weren't just quaint anachronisms.

I agree with that. Nothing is out of bounds for the fans, it seems.

    I agree.

His driving and his endorsements were his public life. He worked very hard to keep his family life private and I think his medical records, including recovery progression, are justifiably kept private. His fans (me included) care about his well-being and would like to hear positive updates, but really it's none of our business.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

    completely agree.

I'd sure like to know what we could expect in the coming years, but in no way I'm going to sit here and demand it.

Maybe it's something I don't even want to know?

I don't see anyone demanding anything and I don't think anyone is entitled to his medical records. That's completely absurd. But to say it would be nice to get a periodic update is not an invasion of their privacy nor is it stamping feet like a five-year old. I suppose we could all not give a crap. Would that be better?
