So based on that, the Elfin must be a kit car? There's pretty much nothing made inhouse there. The gearbox doesn't count though does it? I'm thinking 3sp auto in the 400's.
every car on the planet uses cross referenced parts and if you have ever bothered looking at the welds on ferraris especially early ones you would see that the person who did the welds was a lesser grade than a 1st year apprentice in Aust. Early ferraris make kit cars look the space shuttle. doesnt the 430 have 180,000 parts in it coming from the lowest tenderer?

Well it cannot really be a kitcar per se, as you can no longer buy it in pieces [kit] and take it home and do it yourself, so its not a *kit*.Pity, would have suited me. That's the older Lotus7 type Elfins, use to able to buy it and build it in kit form.They are working on a cheaper sportscar, no idea about it at this time.I don't think it will be sold in kit form either. They have little in the way of pedigree [but more than some u mentioned] if thats what you mean, but thats not a reason to s/hitcan it. I don't see anything wrong with GM400 gearbox, Italians don't do automatics, it was the right piece for Ferrari at the time. Ciao M
