They were talking of the real Ghibli which appeared in 1966, not the current one which should never have been given that name. MS
I guess my clever sarcasm did not come through in my post I'm quite certain I know the difference between a real ghibli and the piece of garbage that they chose to steal the legendary name for I was just trying my hand at humor...and I agree with you regarding the naming.
disagree. the bora and merak are gorgeous in every way...pictures do not do justice. I should have also added the khamsin to the list as they were stunning in their day and look even cooler today.
That was going to be be one of my choices. What isn't easy to tell is just how small this car is. It's like 7/8 scale. I doubt I could fit in it at all. It's such a looker.
I agree. apart from a few truly beautiful designs - especially the 275GTB, and the 250GT Lusso and SWB - I generally find Maserati series production cars better looking.
No pictures of the Shamal? haha........I'm a millennial so we love our 80's and 90's cars!....they are certainly appreciating at this very moment. What is a clean Shamal going for these days?
+1 ...better than Ferrari an better than (almost) all current competitors. A few months ago a had the pleasure to meet Maserati-Designchef Marco Tencone. Very interesting to recognize their knowledge and awareness about the Maserati design heritage/DNA and how they try to transform all these typical characteristics into the modern era. Definitely not an easy task within all the latest and short-lived trends.
$50-$55K which is crazy IMHO. There have been a couple in Canada. Gosh Maseratis better looking than Ferraris in general? I'm not sure how to come to that conclusion? One thing against Maserati vs Ferrari & Lamborghini is that oodles more money has been dumped into restoring them to fantastic levels of fit and finish as compared to Maseratis which barely get repairs ... That alone makes the Maseratis seem inferior because the average condition is so much lower now by comparison. So are all of the historical resale amounts. That's a terribly distorted valuation but people are still reticent to dump a lot of money into many Masertis vs some older Lamborghinis and most Ferraris.
Mullin - Wow - you make it very easy to agree with such a stunning photo It is certainly nice to see such beautiful styling on modern Maserati's as well. I grew up in the 'Ghibli, Bora, Khamsin' era - so for me personally, those represent the benchmarks of Maserati styling. Cheers, - Art Image Unavailable, Please Login
A6 amazing. Khamsin is legendary Gandini design and still so advanced today. Personnally my favorite. Indy was long under-appreciated but people are rediscovering simpler, not-so-exhusberant, designs. Interestingly, I've read a recent interview where Giugiaro himself looking restrospectively finds his Ghibli design somewhat absurd, with its disproportionate front. I liked the Bora so much, but I quickly became bored by the design. I don't find it refined. In that respect I prefer the sleaker Merak. But that's only my opinion and its nice to see so many different tastes out there.
The A6 GCS Berlinetta, just wonderful. Its nose is a very important styling element for Maserati which they want (to try ) to transform into the modern era. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Pretty car wisely rescued from the ignominy of the US bumpers. Love the burgundy interior. Enjoy. Regards.
Forget just Maserati the brand, this car just about takes the cake of ALL cars... Image Unavailable, Please Login
All these cars are wonderful. I am headed to Modena for a factory tour at Maserati in two weeks. Have been to the area several times but this will be a first. Looking forward to it and seeing more of Tridents. There could easily be a Gran Turismo S in our future. Robb
Make sure to take some time to see the Panini Museum which is also in Modena. If there is a Maserati heaven .... this is it. CUP Collezione Umberto Panini | © West s.r.l. Ivan
