+1 I like the Spyders 2400mm wheelbase, although the car could have been a few hundred pounds lighter with a manual top.

Hard to start a war with an army of one. Sure there were some ugly American cars in the 70's but Miura(technically late 60's), Boxer, Khamsin, Espada (technically late 60's), Merak, Countach, 308, Stratos, Urraco are not beautiful cars?

I won't even grant that though I was smitten when I first saw it on the concours field ... until I tried to sit in the back seat. It's a fake!

Ironic that the top is a real problem with these cars.

    provenance = origin, source

Italian, front engine by Ferrari, rear transaxle, CC/F1, powerful, two-seater, more GT than racer, 6 gauge instrumentation, leather, styling, California the next iteration but a Ferrari

And I said it "reminds me" you may not agree.

What is the new GranTurismo facelift going to look like? Anyone have insight?

I keep hoping for the Alfieri... is that coming to replace the GranTurismo in 3 years or will it be a separate model added?

Not sure that Maserati can get it done... would love to see it.

Last week was a dealer presentation/information in Italy, my friend was there. The facelift will be very decent, as written above. To take pictures was forbidden, the official press release will be in the next weeks. The differences are only recognizable for a model insider. The most striking is the new multimedia unit of Ghibli/Levante. Same V8 engine as in the Sport, only with 460PS available, the S-version seems to be omitted. The MC will only be available with the transmission of the Sport, the two exhaust tailpipes are a little bit more discreetly designed.

There are no specific plans for Alfieri. When the Alfieri will come then probably as an electric car or hybrid with considerably smaller proportions than the Granturismo. The Alfieri will not replace the Granturismo!

First will come the Granturismo successor in 18 months, or if you know Maserati well, in 36 months. As a 2+2 seater there will be only a convertible version with hardtop.

Translation ... Alfieri is dead. Besides who would want it as an electric or hybrid?

Lots of cars share most of those characteristics. Only the 4200 has an engine developed for Maserati by Ferrari that could be tuned two different ways and finally got Maserati & Ferrari into the modern world of hydraulic valve lash adjustment and NO BELTS! Best thing that ever happened to Ferrari from an owner's perspective.

The Bora was Maserati's first street car with a transaxle and fully independent rear suspension there's your origin-source. ;) That car had every characteristic you listed save the Ferrari engine oh and the fabulous CC ...

Maserati's were always more GT cars than racers that was their distinction or deficit for some.

But if it's styling reminds you of those Ferraris how can I argue that?

The Indy to me always looked like Bricklin.[/QUOTE]

Oh that's just mean! Have you ever driven a nicely sorted Indy? It is a live axle car and certainly much more planted in the earlier 1960's than the the later 1970's when IRS became the norm but the interiors are fabulous and the 4.7 I drove was a joy through the hills on my way to Monterey via Gilroy. I really liked it as a GT car.

If only they'd have not grafted on those Prelude tail lights in 2002 ... but that's a pretty big mod just for tail lights.

Let's call it a coupe where only midgets can enter the back seat.

The 4200 coupe is easier to get into.
Even my Biturbo has more room!

    But yes it is gorgeous.

So did that person look the same when he designed both cars?
