Imagine a Solstice with a 400 HP LS2 dropped in it. And at the bottom of the screen it also says they will Supercharge or turbocharge them as well! In a car that small that would just be scary. I wonder how you would even get traction.

NE1 notice that if you squint your eyes, the Solstice has very similar proportions to the ALFA ROMEO 8C concept roadster? Even to the shape of the windshield surround. If ALFA doesn't make the 8C, there might be a business in rebodying the Solstice.

IIRC, Mallet made the Caddy CTS-v that won Car & Driver's tuner challenge this year with some majorly butt kicking times. I guess they know they beans when it comes to LS motors, but I'd like the SEE the car on their site instead of just some daft "The 2006 Mallett V8 Solstice is here NOW!" Oh really? The why do you just have file photos of a stock Solstice?

My big concern would be balance and weight distribution, you don't go from a 2.2L 4 banger to a 6.0 v8 without adding a few pounds to the nose. This has always been the issue with those Monster Miatas (Mustang V8 stuffed into a Miata).

If they can build it and it doesn't turn out to be a pig, this will be one hell of a sleeper.

Figure 18 grand for the engine conversion..then add the cost of the new Transmission that can withstand the torque.....and your looking at quite a few dollars.......

Sounds like GM could build a corvette C6 for about the same money..

Why make an ls2 V8 Solstice?

I think a factory 250hp turbo rumored would be a better way to go..

Dude I've never seen that Alfa! I'd take it over a Solstice or Sky

I'm waiting for the production curb weight before getting excited about this. It really does seem like the C6 vette would be a better choice unless the solstice comes in significantly less than 3000 lbs.

I really don't forsee the Mallett being that light. The stock Solstice is a hair over 2800.

The Solstice isn't really that light a car (IIRC, 2895lbs. ?). By the time the conversion is done, you probably have a 3100lb. car that costs about $41k ($23k for Solstice with options + $18k for the conversion).

Meanwhile, you can get a C6 Corvette that weighs about 3250lb., a race-proven chassis, a bigger trunk, and a factory warranty for about $44k.

Maybe in 10 years, when Solstices are going for $2-3k, this conversion might make sense. But right now, I'd think you'd have to be a special kind of idiot to do it.

    I'll take 7lb/hp for ~40k.
