Probably all up to what owner was willing to pay I guess. I’m surprised the car needed a respray at all . At only 6k mi, I would attempt to revitalize the paint first. If primer underneath is still good and repaint color is the same, how necessary is a bare metal job?
My car's in good shape and it's mechanically and structurally sound, Ken. The repair to the roof was done quickly in 1996 and cracks were beginning to appear so four years ago at the time of its engine out major service, the body was put on a dolly and taken over to another shop nearby to repair the roof correctly. They found Bondo up to one inch thick in some places. Proper metal work was done and the roof was repainted and blended to the rear quarter panels. The car is undergoing its scheduled engine-out right now. I've instructed my technicians to leave all the racing patina on the cam covers and wheels... It's not necessary. But paint work just seems typical of a decent repair shop from what the video shows. Just seems odd.
I wonder why they felt the need to put padding int he engine bay. I would have through normal vibrations from driving would be more disruptive than being in a cargo container. pretty cars.
