Well for those that were lucky enough to be there it was a hoot. Thats right my fine feathered friends, while most of you were sitting at home watching re runs of the the Simpsons or some boring footy code about 25 ppl & there cars spend the weekend in Mudgee. Wine growing area is NSW some 3 1/2 hours out of Sydney. The lovely Judi Fenyo put the whole show on and it was great, she is a real credit to the FCA. Lots of wine was had that night but best of all were 16 red blooded hot Italian ponies ranging from a Daytona, BB Boxer, (my 348 Targa) 4 GT4, various 328, 355 & 360 were all there parked side by side in the carpark. (All red) We had a great meal and the following morning we headed off to Gulgon some 30 km out of Mudgee, With none of Oz's finest men in blue to be seen a few cars hit warp speed of up to 180km. The greatest sensation is driving along in convoy and all you can see in front and in your rear vision mirror are Ferrari's going hell for leather. If you own one and havent spend a day out with the club your are missing out. It was great to meet so many new people. Thanks again to Mark & Lorraine, Roger, Ian, Bruce and all that were there. Looking forward to the July 31st day out.

Andrew, sounds like fun. But I'm worried about the 180kph bit. Surely this is a misprint;)

No misprint a few of the cars let fly in front of me and I was on 150km and they were pulling away from me. I later asked what speed they were doing.

errm, we won't mention Event 2000 then. On the run to Bathurst our Mondial was to the back of a certain Testarossa. We passed Ken ("anything over 160 is dangerous") in his 355 like he was stationery. Naturally, we weren't going over the speed limit ;)

One of the members was overhead in a chopper that couldn't keep up

I would hope that f car drivers are sensible enough to drive to the prevailing conditions within the performance envelope of their car (and their own capability limits) at all times. Yes, it is possible to exceed a posted limit safely, just as it is sometimes highly dangerous to drive at half the posted limit.

SFR holds itself within the legal limits of juristriction, and if we think that the authorities don't visit these pages then we might start to believe in the tooth fairy, mention a speed and spin the chocolate wheel,

be careful in SA they have the ability to sieze the car and until u show just cause they keep it, but more importantly these pages can be used in insurance details to prevent payouts if an accident occurs.

refer to Ralph Nader "unsafe at any speed"

Unsafe at Any Speed: The Designed-In Dangers of the American Automobile by Ralph Nader, published in 1965,

and we can thank ralph baby for cleaning it up; however, a modern car, even a new commode, is a very safe vehicle when driven to the conditions and skill of the driver. Times have moved on since 1965. Cars have improved, driving skills/licensing requirements have been raised, and speed limits are lower.

So as a risk taker here goes

I DROVE AT OVER 160 KM/H DOWN THE WRONG SIDE OF THE BURWOOD HIGHWAY!!! I WENT THROUGH SEVERAL RED LIGHTS. I BROKE COUNTLESS ROAD RULES. FACT, TRUTH,

In fact I stood up in court and told the magistrate I did that...

and he thanked me for being a good citizen. :D

Yes, this all happened over 20 years ago and I was a witness for the prosecution :)

    Hi Mark
I see you made it home safely, I must say that driving for 4 hours with the roof off left my eyes sore & numb, Thats Bells line Rd sucks spent over an hour in 60k traffic. I spent 3 hours washing & polishing the car on Monday, not many stone chips, unlike your 328 that took a few stone batterings. I'm trying to get a one day run down to Goulburn, with my mate that owns the SLK55 & all the GTHO parts, Are you interested drop me a email say on sunday the 17th. PS if Roger or any one else you want to join let them know.
    Andrew
