The Mustang question

Someone once asked me: "Why did they copy the Mustang Horse for the emblem?"

I said: "You've got that the wrong way around" -- but they didn't get it

 

Remember most people couldn't describe a car let alone pick one out of a crowd.

She knew it was different {probably knew it wasn't a Mustang} but had no idea what it was. She probably guessed what she thought was the most well known sports car {in her mind}.

It stood out though, I bet she's never gone up to a Mustang owner and asked questions

 

Don't feel bad it happened to me at church, one of the older ladies (late 60's) was looking at the horse and said:

"I like your Mustang..wait is that a Mustang..what exactly is this...It's beautiful whatever it is"

I say: "It's a Ferrari"

She says: "Oh MY! I'm sorry to insult you"

We both had a good chuckle.

I was stopped at a traffic light in front of the Opera House in Seattle last spring when these two nicely dressed older ladies inquired from the sidewalk "what a beautiful car you have...is that a Mustang?" "No" I replied, "It's a Ferrari". "Oh my" she says... "I'm sorry"....I said "no need to be sorry" and smiled...the whole thing was quite amusing!

 

At a car wash in Georgia, one of the attendants saw the tattoo on my chest and said, "You a big Mustang fan, huh...?"

 

3x8's are timeless.

LOL, They all copied Ferrari. Rewind to the 1956-1959 Ferrari 250 Tour de France, then look at the 60's Mustangs. Yep.

I think that happens to all of us at least once. A lady walking a magnificent Springer Spaniel came up to my 360 and asked if it was a new Mustang. I said yes and complimented her on the pretty Pomeranian.

I've been asked if my 328 is a Mustang. I've been asked if it's "one of those new Corvettes". Both times by women in their 60's.

 

I recently purchased my Stradale from out of state and took it to the DMV to get it titled and registered. The person inspecting the car wrote down "Mustang". I informed her it was not a mustang. She quickly corrected it, and wrote down "Porsche".... I finally told her what it was.

 

I've gotten the Mustang thing a bunch.

What's strange about that is that this mustang conv. hangs out at the local coffee shop i go to and girls walk by as their getting their cups of joe and make all kinds of comments on the Mustang but never on my car.

 

Ignorance is bliss!!!

 

I hadn't told any of my family members that I bought the 360. I picked up my older sister in NYC to come to our house for dinner and when I pulled into the garage behind the 360 (the garage is 2 cars deep) she exclaimed "You got a Mustang?" I said "Right animal, but wrong horse...it's a Ferrari." Then I took her for a ride and also let her drive it, which confirmed that her nickname isn't Maria Andretti for nothing!

 

now that is funny.

 

I got asked so much, I just finally bought a Mustang to drive everyday!!!

We were driving our 250 Pf coupe to an FCA event and stopped for a red light. A car rolls up to us in the other lane. The driver asks my wife what kind of car we had. She told him or her (can't remember which), then asks "who makes Ferrari?" My wife instantly replies "Well, Enzo of course".

 

Should have ask her if that was a pit bull

 

I got this one a few years ago, "What do you think about Ferrari stealing the Mustang symbol?"

me: "I think you sir have your chronology wrong."

 

About 10 years ago when I was a student, a friend and I were walking out of the library and there was a 348 Spyder parked in near the main street. My friend was in his 40's at the time and had owned a Mustang in the early 1970's. He said, "Wow, the Mustang has come a long way!" I replied, "Thats because its a Ferrari." He smiled and said, "Well, I guess that would explain it."

 

This summer a guy was looking over my TR He was crouched down looking down by the rocker panel. He said, what year is your Pinaforona. I just said 92 What the heck, at least he thought it was a beautiful car.

 

There's a couple guys and one gal around here with Ferrari badges on their mustangs who claim they smoked a ferrari and its their givin right to put those badges on their car making them the real prancing horse.

If only I had an enzo.....

Fiero I could understand but in no way a Ferrari looks even close to a Mustang.

 

Whenever I stop at a gas station w/ my Datsun 240Z some one always asks what model my Ferrari is.
