Season opening games tomorrow in London. Can't wait for the season to get under way Go Sabres! Go Blues and go anyone who can beat the Red Wings! (My 3 favorite teams)
finally...hockey again! this is the first full season that i'm officially a fan again. since the lockout my interest has dwindled, but after going to a few games last year (wasn't tough to get blues tix) i'm back in full force. with players like paul kariya, keith tkachuck, and doug weight, i'm reallly looking forward to this season. plus free food for people with club seats,
The wild start tonight... im jacked up. This will be the first year for me with no serious hockey in 19 years, either playing or coaching. I will still be playing some mens leauge here and there, but it isint the same. The Nhl is growing and becoming very fun to watch again so I think it should hold my puck addiction to a level where I can still function as a person. This is could be the start of a new era in hockey with all the young talent. Crosby and Malkin are two of the best players in the leauge and both young as hell. Lemieux knows better than to let those two out of his sights. I see a couple of cups in their future. Ovechkin is a freak of nature, for lack of a better term. He too is young as hell looks to keep getting better by the week. With all the young stars and their ability to score goals from anywhere and the new rules that make putting the puck in the net as easy as getting laid in Reno. Not to take away from the goalies who are better than ever, its just their life got a little harder. Better players, new rules, and all the tech work that goes into the sticks now make a goalies day at the office a little tricky. Thats all the here and now(3-5 years), but with all the opprituntiy for kids who really want to play hockey and have limitless training facilities, those are going to be the ones to watch out for. Like I said, I coach in Mn and some of the kids now are really amazing as to the skill and drive they possess. it is sad to see when a parent pushes a kid too hard, but when the kid has the drive, loves the game, and has skill, there are so many places to skate, train, and learn about the game. In 5- 10 years the game will be insane. Whew, can you say ramble. Anyway, for all the college hockey fans, Und is the team to watch for the next couple of years. That was hard for me to say as a Gopher fan but there is a whole boat load of troubles that team is going through and they are loosing players to the nhl and even before they get there they choose a different team over the Gophers. Thats enough for one post today.... I will be back. "I play hockey because it is possible to skate fast enough to forget everything" ^great hockey quote. The F-chat hockey nut, -Bam
GO WINGS! They still play the patient, puck-possession game but Coach Babcock has them playing a relentless style as well. Datsyuk and Zetterberg should have some big numbers this year.
You're right GO WINGS!! Such a great mix of young stars and veterans...and Lidstrom is the best ever!!!!! It's just a shame 95+% of the population could care less about hockey
I heard the Blackhawks new motto will be "Cold Wirtz on Ice". (Used to be 'Cold Steel on Ice'-hahaha) Anyway, the NHL's Dick Cheney is down in hell trying to freeze things over...
Love the wings too.... when the stars left I had to pic a team to love and Detroit was it. Every year they are a threat for the cup, and they do it without the yankee/laker bull****.
Funny you guys play some of the worst teams in your first 3 games while we play some of the best and you call us weak, lol..... But I agree canucks are a weak team mostly because of our crappy management
