    I like to call it the 288 GTO just so people know right off what car I mean, I think there are less people out there who would call it just a GTO even if its the proper name...even more so in the states just due to the Pontiac GTO.

    If you say "GTO" a Ferrari guy should know you mean a "288".
    A "250 GTO" is a "250 GTO". I do say "288 GTO" sometimes to avoid confusion myself, what I was simply refering to is that officially it is simply called the "GTO".
