Do you like it? It looks pure class to me. I think BMW is recovery pretty damn good after the Bangle period of fugly creations. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Seen several in person and it's definitely a striking design, though it doesn't arouse me how BMW designs of yesterday did. I hope they release an M version, though I've heard they won't be (but they'll release an X5M and X6M, go figure...).
I felt the original Z4 was hideous..just awful. THis new car is everything the last wasnt...it is very aggressive and intense. It not pretty....but I love it.
+1, except that it arouses me bigtime But... Regarding not making a Z4M for this generation, what's up with that!? But you can always get a lot of juice out of the new 3,5 twin turbo BMW engines
The new generation of Z4 has just come out. They don't want to blunt sales by announcing in advance that a Z4M will be made... they want people to buy the Z4 now because they think holding out for a Z4M to be released will be in vain and then later on BMW will appear to 'benevolently' cave to public pressure and release the Z4M anyway. Existing Z4 owners will then trade their cars into the dealerships and upgrade to the Z4M... BMW can then make money off two sales and a trade in, rather than just the one by having everyone be patient. Mark my words: there will be a Z4M for this generation. All the best, Andrew.
I like the new Z. Looks good & drives nice. I wish a soft top was available. BTW, these hard top roofs on today's coverts are $$$$ to fix/replace when in an accident, even a minor one.
Drop dead gorgeous. It may be the best-looking modern BMW made. And I hate the lines of the original Z4.
Im going to let someone take the depreciation for a couple years then Im going to seriously look into one of these as a daily to replace the vette. More I look at it the better it gets.
I didn't like it at first only because i HATED the old Z4; but everything changed the first time i drove one of the new Z4's. Everything just feels better about it. More space inside, better layout of the dash, controls etc. One of the biggest things for me is the new hardtop conv. rather then the old one.
the previous z4's were total chick cars, this is the first one I wouldn't feel like a total fruitcake driving.
+1 The hardtop is nice for daily driving and you should try to check out the interior on these machines, feel so solid and premium. The whole car gives a pleasant quality feeling.
Actually, having driven the previous Z4 quite a lot, I'd say it was was pretty lively and skittish for a BMW... the suspension was hard and it was easily unsettled mid-corner if you hit bumps with the rear tyres with the power on. It was a hoot, especially with the manual transmission, but then I'm 26 and the lack of some comfort wasn't really missed. My Dad (who owned the car) eventually grew weary with it and traded it in for a 3-series convertible with an automatic 'steptronic' transmission. The old Z4 (particularly towards the top end of the range) was a 2-seater roadster-like poser's car in appearance, but it had an exciting drive when you got going. The new one promises to be a much more refined affair than last time, and looks more menacing, but it's not supposed to be as hard-edged as last time (haven't driven one yet, so can't directly compare) and I worry that you might loose some of what made the original car feel special to the driver. We'll see... All the best, Andrew. Edit: Were you maybe thinking of the Z3 as being the 'total chick car'? That was a pretty soft car.
I was mainly thinking of the Z3, never said (or thought), that the earlier cars weren't fun to drive or even good cars, the MB SLK is a fun car as well....pink is a pretty color, but I don't own any pink clothes....Scooters are really fun. I don't make the rules.
I'm sold after seeing that specific picture! That car seems to be slightly lowered with a nice set of Hartge wheels. I like it!
Love it...if I didn't have a daughter it would be my next daily driver. Of course, I am a little biased, as my present DD is a 97M3/4. MB
