A real novelty was the site of this event: the MOTOPARK Oschersleben, a new circuit located near Oschersleben in former East Germany between Hannover and Berlin.

Hi Wolf, Good idea, but let's NOT deal with South Africa. As SA is outside the European Union, I would have to pay LARGE import duties and other taxes if I receive it down there. It's a painful processs...firstly because I am a foreigner, I cannot make application at a post office. So I had to drive out the the DVLA in Luton and stand in a queue with 30 other people. My visit today took THREE hours and I don't have a license (and this was my third visit to the DVLA!). These are some of the issues they raised: The colleague who signed his confirmation of our identity was apparently not allowed to sign as we had not lived in the country for 4 years! So new forms had to be completed. The price had gone up by GBP 10 to GBP 38.00 per application! Our South African licences were taken away and this means that we will not be able to drive legally in SA. We will not get the SA licenses back! They wanted to take my passport away for over a month! After a 20 minute discussion I managed to convince them to take an old, full passport as opposed to the one with my UK visa and that I am currently using. It's unlikely that the DVLA will issue drivers' licences without seeing our visas, but I convinced the guy to send everything away so that we can get the applications into the system. If the DVLA Head Office has a problem, they will contact me by mail and at least I won't have to go and stand in the queue in Luton again! If there are no problems, the process could take up to 6 weeks!!! What a waste of time, effort and money..... Ja bin ich definitiv ein Ausländer! Cheers, MARK
