Why, as long as it is not your son showing up like this at the breakfast table...where is the problem? Fact is, when I go out for a drink with some friends seeing a guy like this we would joke as well, has nothing to do with Hamilton...I will never understand why people think it shows that you "made it" when wearing a cheap looking golden chain. Even when it is solid 20KG gold around your neck worth hundreds of thousands of Dollars it still looks cheap...Especially as this is more for wannabes as I doubt that he needs that to get attention and to be recognized.

I wouldn't have a problem with him showing up at my breakfast table in rags, I'd love to know his secret how to drive, besides the fact the car he would probably turn up in, all would be forgiven.. :)

Oh you're so right. The NBA is a paragon of good taste, as demonstrated by Dennis Rodman…

So you actually would not have a problem with Hamilton being your son but would you have a problem with your son turning up like this without being Hamilton? That is the question ;)

I'd say if he spent all his time looking at his phone, instead of talking at the table I'd be offended, that's my gripe, disrespect, what he would wear that's up to him at his age .:)

No problem for me beyond there seems to be a few here who are showing, if not 'hate', at least genuine animosity toward the guy because of how he dressed at some fancy ass nightclub. My clubbing days are long gone, as I'm sure is the case for many here, but I'd guess he's not alone in his choice of dress in such situations.

Seems to me it's called 'fashion'. We may not like it, and indeed poke fun at it, which is all good, but the animosity aimed at him seems out of line to me.

He's obviously comfortable, Nicole's obviously comfortable so what do us old farts know of the subject?

    Cheers,
    Ian

So what should he be wearing then? - A nice pair of slacks with a sensible shirt, a suitable tweed jacket (with elbow patches naturally), brogues and a dickie bow tie (or how about a cravat? - "NICE!" ).

I'm sure Lewis and his mates take the p:censored:s out of people dressed like that just as much as you take the p:censored:s out of people dressed like Lewis and his mates.

I don't particularly like his style (apart from the torn jeans - Most of My jeans have tears in them but that's because they're ancient, not because they're trendy! [I must admit that I do enjoy the look on peoples faces when they're looking at My 348 TS and then see Me in My old T-shirt and torn jeans clambering into it! :) ] ), and I simply cannot stand his "Notice Me!.........notice Me!....... I'm the centre of the Universe you know!" girlfriend (7years of F1 coverage zooming in on her every time Lewis goes to overtake a car on track so we actually miss the overtake has totally cured Me of her!), but if that makes him happy then who am I to tell him it's wrong?

But I think the door swings both ways (I guess that is how you say that in English)...Whatever is said against him (or even just not explicit pro-Hamilton) is taken as an offence over here. We never had that with any other driver in the past that his fans are that hardcore and thin-skinned. He was just one of several drivers in the last years and now all of the sudden it is all about him, be it positive or negative, like he invented driving fast.
The was F1 before him and most likely there will be still F1 after he retired as well...

Why are you asking me? I never said that he must need to dress to my taste but I do not need to like it the way it is or must I? Why are people making a big mess of it if some say that this looks rediculous on every kid, be it Hamilton or xyz.

I'd say if you met him you'd have a different viewpoint, but ... that's just my opinion.

"Swings both ways", could also be taken in a different way than the way you have correctly used the phrase...:)

Did you meet him personally? Or did you just see him just as I did from a close distance? Furthermore the post was about this forum and about his fans, so I do not know what a meeting with him should change on that...
As I am eager to learn..What would be the correct phrase to what I said? The medal has two sides?

Because you and your friends apparently take the p:censored:s out of people who dress like Lewis and you've said that it looks cheap, therefore you must have some sort of idea of how you think Lewis should dress!

No I have never met him, however I do know folk that have, look am not debating it any further, but from my point of view, it is foolish to judge a book by it's cover.

For the very last time: who said that I judge him by that just because I think it looks rediculous? This is exactly what I mentioned before when talking about his fans, everything said about him other that "he is the best" is taken as an offence.
And I think it is funny to say that a meeting would change everything if you have not met him by yourself so how do you know?

Please reread what I said, it was my opinion that you would be of a different mind set about him, if you have the chance to personally meet him, and the reason I say this is because, the folk I know and also have read about on here from far and wide, all say he is a nice guy, taking time to chat ect, and to me at least, he comes across as humble and grateful for his position.

Saying all that, to have gotten to position he is in, he must have a very determined and ruthless streak in him to attain his level sat along side his inherent talent.

Swinging both ways, think about male female ;)

I guess you can say that about every top driver in F1. I remember the story you are reffering to (guy with kid meet Hamilton taking pictures and autographs) but this chatting is just "small talk" and does not say anything about this person. Meet him on a stressful day and you might get the impression that he is a ***** because he has no time. As long as you do not really know him in person (on a personal level) I think you can not say anything about that, just how he appears in TV interviews and the occasional meet and greet. That said I have absolutely no opinion about Hamilton as a person as I just don´t know him...
Understood, thanks. Might bring me into trouble when used on the wrong occasion ;)

Okay yes, tis true we have only our opinions based upon his TV appearances ect, I tend to think he wears his heart on his sleeve, to his own determent sometimes, but who can say for sure, Kimi could be conceived as an inconsiderate arrogant self centered sod, but he is liked ...horses for courses and all that I suppose.
