That’s a test mule based on the LaFerrari which is over 8 years old. The corvette is 2 years old. This is a pointless thread.
Actually, the LaFerrari was launched almost 10 years ago (even though that is an Aperta prototype). This thread is either a deliberate provocation, or a showcase of utter ignorance.
As a corvette guy, I’ll be first to say that the next corvette always looks like the last Ferrari. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, and this isn’t any disrespect to Corevette. They openly admit to having reverse engineered 458’s to design the C8. I really like the C8 Z06 a lot.
I've always thought that this piece was interesting: Gerhard Richter's Ferrari Image Unavailable, Please Login It's part The Modern's permanent collection, and the text below is part of the piece. I think despite the fact that the image the OP used is old, it still spawns a good discussion as to the obvious and well-documented similarities between Corvettes and Ferraris. The 2019 ZR1 definitely mimicked the F12TdF (image in the thread) and it is well-documented and certainly obvious that the C8 was reverse-engineered (not only the design but the powertrain as well) from the 458. It has been going on a long time - The Shelby Daytona mimicked the 250 GTO / The GT40 mimicked the 250LM / The Fiero GT mimicked the 308/328 etc. etc. As the old adage goes "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" so as long as Ferrari continues to design beautiful cars others will mimic them so people can spend $90K on a C8 and to the average person it looks like a $300K Ferrari - and now actually almost performs like one. Now if things reverse and $300K Ferrari's are designed to look like $90K Chevy's then we are in trouble!!!
Don't forget the C4 and the Daytona. Huyndai Tiburon and 456 MR2 and Mondial Prelude and 412 Folks have been copying Ferrari for a long time. and in reverse? The Roma and an Aston Martin (ahahaha) I still remember the MR2 coming out 4 years after the Mondial, and I was like, wow Toyota ain't even trying to hide who they copying.
I’ve seen that piece at the Modern . Lots of weird and interesting stuff there . I wish they would change things up a bit more as some of the art has been there for years .
No words. The c8 should have been a pretty car. The proportions were there. If any design house other than Chevrolet would have created the body it would have been beautiful, but instead the hood comes to a point like an arrowhead and that rear end… On the other hand, I don’t think Ferrari has ever made a truly ugly car.
I beg to differ my FF is ugly but I love it, My wife calls it Barbra Streisand "odd looking with a great voice"
