Looks like Hamilton is the new Golden Boy of F1, I liked his quote in the After race press conference " I think he tried into turn four a couple of times, but fortunately I was able to trick him into out-braking himself and get my car stopped and it was very fortunate that I was able to cut across and get back in front of him, to the point where he eventually went off, so I apologise for that but at the end of the day, we got the points, so it doesn't really matter. " Well Good luck to him on his 2nd place, I wonder what the out come would have been if Kimi'c car was running 100%

Massa sure did make a fool of him self trying the same move twice, and making the same mistake twice, too bad the second time he lost a few places. I think if Kimi's car had been at 100% at the very least he would have been fighting for first with Alonso. I think he showed that in the last ten laps or so of the race.

Massa is no Schumi, but neither is Kimi by his own admission. Both are great drivers, but Massa made some serious errors yesterday, most likely driven by nerves. Hopefully he can regroup and do something next weekend. I haven't lost hope in him yet. I assume regs will allow Ferrari to change Kimi's engine for Bahrain without incurring a penalty, so hopefully he will be in top form. Fingers crossed.......

Hamilton just looked different in the interview room than what we're accustomed to seeing. Chugging from a water bottle and giving that thumbs-up. What's the word I'm looking for...personality?

What is the problem here? I don't see no foul in the thread title....there is no dead give away here.

BTW, LH was absolutely brilliant and fantasitc in making Massa looking like a dumbf**k. Or was it more like Massa had brought onto himself.

Don't get me wrong, I am not a Massa basher. I used to like and support Massa since he was always under the shadow of MS and not getting the credits he deserved. But this weekend changed all my respect for Massa.

So back to this thread....GO Hamilton! Have a great season and earn Massa's seat to drive for the red team next year!

This thread was posted at 5:51 CST, 15 hours or so after the race was run and an hour after the second telecast ended! At some point, people not wishing to know anything about the race need to take matters in their own hands and avoid any and all possible sources of news or results. There has to be a resonable time limit as to when we're able to freely discuss and post about the race without concern to "spoiling".

The only spoilers that I object to are the ones that have a obvious result in the title that can be seen from the main page or from just being in the racing section. Personally I avoid the racing section until I've seen the race, so as long as a spoiler can't be seen from the main page then I think it's someones own fault if they wonder into a spoiler thread posted in the racing (correct) section.

Hamilton isn't so much the Golden Boy of F1 as he is McLaren Golden Boy. They had their eye on him from the time he was 13.

Going over the what ifs is pointless. The fact is Massa screwed up and Kimi wasn't 100% and they lost. That's racing.

Spot on. I think the only problem is when the spoiler is in the thread title. Like "ALONSO WINS!". Then it can show up on the main page. If there is no spoilers in the title, I think it's OK. I think it's a bit silly to be browsing the racing section of F-chat after a GP has taken place but you haven't seen it. The main section sure (hence no spoilers in titles) but "new golden boy in F1" is generic enough that it doesn't really spoil anything.

I don't think he's the new 'golden boy', I think he's the real deal. A golden boy would be Jensen Button or Mark Webber, guys who had F1 promotional muscle without having proven anything on the track.

Hamilton has that 'it' factor...not ready to make Schumacher or Senna comparisons (yet), but he has that kind of aura about him. He's driving the wrong car, but I think most of us can see this coming.

That's a shame, I wish he'd drive for Ferrari. He's a hell of a talent, especially at his age.
How's spring break going in PC? I miss it :)

Hi Brian - haven't seen you on in a while or I've been elsewhere. I am definitely in agreement with your comments about "golden boy". I've read in the past of a comparison of Lewis having the charisma of MS, the guy is very articulate, lots of self-esteem, one heck of a good driver (look at his race history)....hope he goes far in his career....in two GP's he's been on the podium twice (I think this will continue). Wrong car, yes, but I rather doubt Ron Dennis will let go of him ! ! He's groomed Lewis for too many years.

    Have a great day.

Has this been done before, a rookie earn podium finishes in his first two races? Maybe JV in 96?

I wonder how long L Hamilton's contract runs with McLaren. He looks very comfortable with the team and for sure R Dennis has him locked for several years. It'd interesting to know when can he "offer his services" to other teams.

I don't know what his salary is ($2m?) per year. But judging from his two GP's he's now probably underpaid and Dennis got himself a bargain.

Now I wonder how many of the teams will try to emulate Ron Dennis' Hamilton farm system. Spot talent at a very early age and develop it thru the teen years.

Hi Carol. I've been "lurking", but haven't thrown my hat into the Kimi-vs-Massa battle on the board. I like both drivers and hope the team as a whole does well this season. The Malaysia GP was unfortunate, but Ferrari never really seemed to pull it all together in practice, while McLaren seemed on their game the whole weekend. At the very least, however, both cars should have been top-4 (yes, Massa did make some bone headed errors against a rookie driver). I've also been checking out the other ALMS races on Speed...in fact, I'm going down to watch the Long Beach race this weekend.

While Lewis is on the wrong team, it's good to see promising new drivers coming up in F1. I think all racing series need to have a face tied to it. Alonso, Kimi, Massa, talented they may be, but they don't have that 'it' factor it takes to become that face. They (specifically Raikkonen and Alonso) remind me of Alain Prost, really talented but not iconic. Hamilton just seems to have the package. His enthusiasm and charisma on the podium and in the interview room alone stood out versus the others. He was classy in his descriptions of the Ferrari drivers and made me forget he's basically a teenager capturing the imagination of the world's premier racing series. I think F1 needs him as much as Ron Dennis does (I wouldn't be surprised, though, to see him go elsewhere midway through his career. He will eventually need to leave his 'father's house' (Dennis) and become his own man)

I don't know about "Golden Boy", but, I do think he and David Hobbs should just "get a room". Hobbs was going on and on about him the whole race! Sounded like a 13 year old girl crowing about Sanjaya! :D Jeez, why not just crown him WC and wash the rest of the season.

David Hobbs was indeed gushing but I think thus far the kid is performing beyond the hype.

Eddie Jordan had a reputation for being a talent spotter, he found Schumacher before Flavio did.

Peter Sauber signed a kid with only 23 races under his belt named Kimi.

Frank Williams discovered a few drivers, Jenson Button comes to mind.
