    Greetings all,

I just saw this specimen on a tuner site, http://www.kronentuning.com/, and I must say I was TOTALLY wrong about this car from some early spy shots.

This things is an absolute stunner! It's the most beautiful MB ever, easliy, and I'm no MB fan.

Has anyone seen it in the flesh?? I know if it's beautiful in photos it must be striking in person.

    Your thoughts,

    Cavallini

Stunning car. I'm a little bit of a hater because it's the new bodystyle of the car I have now. I have a friend who just purchased one, and he let drive it around for a good day or so. Personally I like mine more, just because when driving both cars it feels like the new CL is more comfort than sport. But it's all personal opinion. The new interiors in the S550 and CL550's are very luxurious. I keep thinking about what the new SL's will look like.

Its a decent looking car - but I don't think you can look at a car thats been modified and say it means the OEM car is stunning. I think any car looks good with a lowered stance, larger wheels, maybe subtle body accents (VERY subtle) and the right photography.

But some cars dont' need that to look great. I haven't seen the new CL in person, I am a big fan of the older CL and I like the CLS too, so maybe my judgement is warped :)

The new CL is decent looking from the front. Not-so-decent looking from the back. Mercedes doesn't do much for me, now. The only thing I like is the power from the AMGs. As far as looks....nothing spectacular is in their lineup.

I've seen one in the flesh. It committed the ultimate car sin, it was BORING! It didn't have the AMG kit, that may improve it a bit, but it looked small and cheap. The last body style was imposing and huge.

    I don't know what happened.

It is rather underwhelming. You can't even enlarge the photos of their work.

A friend of mine has one, the current CL, and we went out a few times and I drove it. It's sharp, very sporty, very tight and confident in corners and at speed. I was impressed.

How long do they plan to leave the current SL as is? I think it needs the new front headlight treatment. To me, that would improve it incredibly. I can't stand those little round headlights.

    Forza,

MB NA dropped one off for me a few weeks before christmas. Stunning car LOADS of bring-it and plenty of stop-it i only wish they had followed the design of the CLS just a little more, that car was a design line breaker this is just shy of being a statement but more of a whisper.

Perhaps the Brabus upgrades really transform the car's lines.

Granted, it is essentially a chopped CLS but I think that shape and line look better on a coupe than a sedan.

But for an MB, it's rather attractive. LOL.

Mercedes changes their bodystyles every 7 years. The next SL will be 2010, so it will be released 2009..

Great shots. Many thanks. It's attractive in white, like the current CL.

I see they went with the I-Drive.

MB seems to be permanently handicapped with their front-end treatments.

The Brabus upgrades from that site look much, much better than the factory mods.

It would be refreshing if other manufacturers followed Ferrari's lead and made each of their cars unique.

This cookie-cutter styling that almost everyone seems to be following may reduce production and design costs but it does nothing for the overall appeal of the car.

If Maserati or Alfa delivers some stunning designs they could make a killing.

All the pictures in this thread are with the AMG kit, like I said. The AMG kit makes it look much better, but the "base" model looks horribly dull.

I saw one the other day, thought it was a CLS at first, but those tail lights honestly remind me of the Acura RL....

    Ummm....Scion tC anybody??

I'm honestly disappointed. The old CL was hands down my favorite benz, but this thing is just unattractive. I can't believe people are still bashing BMW designs when Mercedes is slowly ruining their cars (CL, ML, GL).

Thought this was ugly as sin in the spy shots, but it has really grown on me in recent months. The MB ad of a Titanium CL on the street was the shot that did it for me.

It looks amazing. Saw and sat in the CL63 and the damn thing blew me away. Splendid. So much better looking than a 6 series ...
