It will never be half the car of the 993 Turbo in my opinion. But it's got more potential than the 996 Turbo (Last Turbo). Thoughts? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
"The new 911 Turbo¡®s engine produces 480 hp at 6,000 rpm, 60 hp more than its predecessor, raising specific output of the 3.6-liter boxer-Six to an all- time high of 133 hp per liter." "A 911 Turbo equipped with the optional 5-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission requires only 3.4 seconds to sprint from 0 to 60 mph (0-100 km/h; 3.7 sec.). Equipped with the standard six-speed manual transmission, the new 911 Turbo reaches the same 60 mph mark in 3.7 seconds (0-100 km/h; 3.9 sec.). With either gearbox, the top track speed of the new 911 Turbo is 193 mph." Image Unavailable, Please Login
"The 2007 911 Turbo goes on sale this summer in North America. U.S. pricing for the new model is $122,900." (USD I assume) You must admit. For all that car....it truly is a bargain at that price.
What the hell is that thing?? Anyways, the new 997 Turbo is awsome and I love it, perfect Daily Driver without a doubt.
I for one, love it. Greta performance, good looks. It's a winner in my books. Vasco, what's with the 0-100km/h times being so off the 0-60mph times? Something missing there?
Why is the Tip 0-60 so fast. Usually, it's the Tip that takes the extra 1/2 second or so. More to that, I though that Porsche was supposed to finally be implementing an actual F1 style shifter(?).
993. There IS no substitute! Honestly, what is there NOT to love!? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
You also got to wonder why the price of a 996 is almost at the price of a good 993. The 993 was the last of the REAL Porsches (Sorry Ryan, I still like your though) Well, seeya guys. I am off to the car show...
No worries man, I'm probably the only person in the world that doesn't like the 993, never been able to fully explain why. Either way, I REALLY like the new 997.
The tiptronic has finally improved beyond the dispicable technology it was in the previous generation. I'm glad. Hopefully they drop the same tech into the Cayman/Boxster too. Those two models in Tip mode are pathetically slow vs. manual. As for the paddle style shifting, I'm dissapointed it's not in the new generation. You'd figure after the previous generation they'd ditch the dinky switch/Benz-style shifting and opt for something more practical and sporty. Guess not.
