Any thoughts about the next big announcement from Ferrari? We’ve seen the release and delivery of the Superamerica, the announcement of the 430 Challenge and the promise for a 430GT. The 600 Imola appears to a possible mid to late 2006 unveiling. How about that darn Dino rumor and everyone looking forward to a car equivalent to a“430 Challenge Stradale.”

Anybody have good guesses? Educated or not?

There are more "proper" Ferraris with engines/engine locations that are not 12 cylinder rear engined than there will ever be 12 cylinder rear engined Ferraris. I'm sure you will be horrified to learn of the existence of 4 cylinder Ferraris ("Gasp!" he goes).

I suppose the 250 GTO and most of the road going Ferraris made before the boxer aren't proper Ferrari's then since its engine is in the front.

Look at Ferrari's Grand Prix history: they have won championships with cars with 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 cylinders! Name another entrant who can say that.

I think Jack Nasser it taking over as the head of ferrari, he did wonders for ford. They have plans for a new 12cyl hybrid to meet CAFE requirements.

Actually, the only times they ever won the GP World Championship with a 12, it was a Boxer, in 1975/6/7/9! But they have never won a championship with a V-12. (I believe the closest they came was in 1990.)

Doesnt matter what engine is in it, I always here how none of them after 1969 are real ferraris. I guess the early daytonas are but the 70's daytonas arent.

Is there any rumor that the front engined v8 will be based on the Maser?

The replacement Maser got cancelled. To salvage the 150 million spent developing it they are reworking it into a entry level Ferrari.

I hate this It's not a Ferrari unless it has a V12. Seriously, Ferrari is only about creating the best performance car, regardless of what is included.

Almost word for word that is what I've heard. Since the brand is the company's most valuable asset, they must careful not to dilute its value with a new lower cost car. I don't want to see a Ferrari "Boxter."

Too bad it will likely be a “big” car like a Maser and not a Dino sports car. I’m quite frustrated by the “growth” of the Ferrari product line. The 612 is a monster, the 575 replacement is forecast to be bigger, the 430 is slightly bigger than the 360. I honestly miss the size of my 328, it was a real delight to toss about.

They won't dilute the brand. The entry level F-car will be priced around 997 turbo a far cry from the girly boxter.

That all future models will have V12 engines derived from the Enzo's, except the new entry level Dino/Project California..
