Maserati Other Coupe | eBay Includes shipping to los Angeles and USA duties. According to the description ... "No accident and original color". I guess the dent was an incident, not an accident Also according to the description it is missing side windows and instruments. It says this is one of the last Indy with the Citroen brakes yet one of the photos shows an aftermarket brake booster in the engine compartment ... poor thing has been converted and butchered. Now it's $100K, I kind of like it, and would like to finish it, but not at $100K. 1962 Maserati 151 Le Mans Drogo Mexico Best offer Ciao and best!
Thanks for posting those videos, and sharing your story. I finally had time to view them. I did not know about the Ely race which IS the "amazing race". Very sad about that tragedy and knocks the wind right out of the excitement when imagining myself driving that fast, for that long. That's some serious business.
Not sure if it really belongs under "The Offer of the Day" as it's not a basket case or of doubtful provenance, but I noticed that on Enrico's Maserati site there's a Maserati QP3 Royale up for sale. It looks to be in very good condition and well maintained. This is the first time I can recall seeing one of these up for sale.
He and his wife had run the race the year before in a Boxer and he felt it wasn't fast enough so he bought a barely used TR 4k? miles but used the original tires that came on the car. Yes they were V rated but that was the highest rating at that time and yes it was good for the car's top speed. A rating of V when that car was manufactured meant something different than it does now or even on the day of that race, Z had just been introduced. So had he bought new V rated tires and put them on then THAT would have been an issue. Many people immediately jumped upon this as the cause though. The tires that came with the car were the originals and who knows perhaps the PO had one repaired or he just got terribly unlucky. Back then the safety requirements we extremely lax. His belts were attached to the firewall with fender washers, a not terrible substantial firewall either. Having seen the car rolled up into something the size of a card table I think that staying inside of the car would have been even worse. The standards became much more stringent and even with a proper full roll cage tec people have gone off there and been killed subsequent to this event. It's quite dangerous. I wouldn't do it again. They wouldn't let us go that fast in a car like that again either.
I posted about this car on another thread. I saw the car in 1990 the owner had it in a Long Beach warehouse. he wanted $80,000 then. it had a Qp3 under it. needed a whole lot of money. now the nephew s trying to sell it. not much to work with. after 24 years this seems unrealistic owner/ people. that was my call in 1990.

It was listed on Ebay in the middle of last year with no reserve. Looks like the seller ended the auction early though. LINK: 1962 Maserati 151 Le Mans Aluminum | eBay
My favorite part of the description is "and much more in the trunk" If it smells like death run Forrest run ... Just looking at this car and it's description screams of bad juju. It's probably an 86.
I like this a lot. Not bidding though. Wife would kill me as we are hunting for a family truckster at the moment. Maserati Coupe Biturbo SI 2 5 | eBay
Yes it looks very nice but it has been just sitting for a long time so ... Great starting point though. Given today's crazy car market it wouldn't surprise me to see the seller holding out for a very high number. I've seen a couple of people think their very clean examples of a 430 and 89 spyder were worth $30K over the last two years.
If you're talking about the eBay 87 because mine is an 84 and a carbureted car with liquid intercoolers and not FI.
Not really tatty enough to qualify for TOOTD, but interesting nonetheless: 1984 Maserati Quattroporte - 4.9/ Vollleder/ reduzierter Preis | Classic Driver Market 1984 Maserati Quattroporte - italien Rolls Royce Service Neu*H-Zul | Classic Driver Market 1983 Maserati Quattroporte - III 4,9 Manuale Neuwertig | Classic Driver Market 1984 Maserati Quattroporte - Quattroporte 4.9 ex-Roi du Maroc | Classic Driver Market
The driver's seat bolster is a mess which for a car with such low mileage is weird. So maybe it has more miles than are indicated? I think these style seats are even more fragile than the early ones. Alcantara is not rugged stuff. It's not a mint car but looks like a terrific starting point. Unless it's just been done the valves will need adjusting, heads torqued and the usual cambelt stuff. Throw in a new waterpump and it should run well and safely for a long time. That's not an inexpensive service. This car deserves it though.
Yea, the miles are suspect, but then again, the miles are suspect on any of the cars from the Biturbo era, since the speedometers/odometers always failed! So, buy based on condition and records, not the odomoeter!!!
It looks like a very clean and straight car, as Bob said an excellent starting point for taking care of any deferred maintenance and keeping abreast of things. I like the color
Very good point Victor. However there are plenty of garage queens out there that have worn bolsters due to everybody and his brother wanting to just "sit" in the car, or climbing in and out to do a startup, push around the garage, etc.
Even with a restomod there is a lot to do. "Surface rust in floor, no rot whatsoever. " yah sure ... Glass might be an issue? Are bumpers being made now? A new and even better drivetrain like from a manual 6spd 2002-2006 coupe would be kind of cool. American gear a whole lot easier. Imagine 500HP with a fully independent suspension!
