Well they did need to build cars like this if they were to survive and I agree on the name recycling but that's not what's the problem with this. It's brand name mismanagement, at least here in the USA. I remain very skeptical about the brand's viability here. The MC20 has been well received but it's unclear to me that what is a halo car for most people is going to repair their woes here in the USA at least. I'm not hating on the current product line, I actually liked the Levante I drove but I haven't had a long term experience with one.

Yawn discussed ad eternam in the Khamsin thread. AM120-333 sold new to the Sultan of Brunei directly by the factory with bespoke special order colors. Engine broken early on. Sat for DECADES in a dark corner. Then Jeffri Bolkiah (brother of the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah) the biggest of the big spenders ever -Billions and billions of Dollars wasted until he got thrown out- decided on a whim to make it into a hot rod so had a Holden(!) engine of all things fitted with auto transmission. FYI for anyone outside of Oz Holden is an Australian car brand, like a big US Detroit car for down under. So he had some shop in Brunei start the project, then another in New Zealand further modify the car and it ended up in the UK for sale. It is as desirable as a radio active debris. Here the factory information supplied in January 2020 by Fabio Collina of Maserati Classiche: Ciao Marc, You are welcome! AAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!! What a SHAME !!!!!!!! It's impossible for me to see a disaster like this!!! Anyway, please find below some information about the car. I hope it could be useful! I add that the sale of the car was managed by the Company directly. Ciao and take care, See you soon Fabio Basic information: KHAMSIN (AM120) Chassis number AM120*333* Model KHAMSIN (AM120) Body Bertone - Closed Displacement 4.930 cm3 - Carburettors Gearbox type Automatic Borg Warner External colour "Verde Mercedes" (Green) Interiors leather colour "Marrone Monzese" (Brown) Date of production 10/03/1975 Right hand drive Yes Delivery area Brunei Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I wonder what the body modifications are made from and how they are attached? I bet it won't hold up very well. I've seen far worse examples than that though. The thing still retains the overall beautiful shape it just got very doohickied. Lord there ARE a lot of them ...
My guess is turd. Otherwise maybe fiberglass. Also, is the Holden V8 related to a small block Chevy? What is visible in the engine photo looks like it may be.
It's not perfect,...but I'd drive it... Maserati Tipo 151 Recreation by Autotecnica del Lario for sale on BaT Auctions - ending December 26 (Lot #94,288) | Bring a Trailer Image Unavailable, Please Login
"It is as desirable as a radioactive debris." So, should I assume you don't like/approve of this "personalization"?
220,000! miles, not dollars...don't get your hopes up too much! https://www.hemmings.com/auction/2009-maserati-granturismo-686063?utm_medium=email&utm_source=hcc_weekly&utm_campaign= Image Unavailable, Please Login A modern record? Gives one hope!
“The current owner has added approximately 150,000 of the 203,000 miles showing in the past six years.” Well that’s not something you read often in late model Maserati ads. Well done.
There was a 4200 manual Spider in south Florida that had over 200,000 miles a few years ago, and he said he was on his second clutch and original un rebuilt motor and gearbox (try that in a Cambiocorsa)
Here's a good one! 1967 Maserati 3500 Gti Vignale Spyder Kissimmee, Florida | Hemmings Image Unavailable, Please Login
One of the two designers took some major "inspiration" from the other guy's work. Even the grill mesh is the same. Ivan Image Unavailable, Please Login
Interesting, the Vignale spyder was delivered mid -65 and the Fiat was shown for the first time at the Turin show in-66. I have a Moretti Sportiva that many thinks is a copy of the Dino as well, but that one was shown 8 months before as well. Maybe the designers met for lunch in Turin and exchanged ideas? ^^^^ Who knew that fresh air was so expensive? Unusual original colours but deeply scary technically and financially!
Looks like this was put on the market recently. Kaus did a great job sourcing everything but in the end it is still a replica, just a really good replica albeit with the correct engine now. Interesting https://www.jarrahvenables.com/maseratitipo151
