I think that is about 98% what the 420 will look like, I like the upper back und, reminds me of an Enzo, the lower seems too bulky though, hopefully its a little disgiuse or something.

Agreed on the rear end. I also think the front end is just temporary for early testing. It looks just like the 360. I think (and hope) Ferrari is offering something that can be classified as a NEW car, not a modified car.

I think what you're seeing is the 420 Modena, although somewhat disguised. The top of the rear-end has resemblances to the Enzo, consistent with what we've heard. The bottom of the rear-end appears to be camaflagued for obvious reasons (it needn't be shown for purposes of testing). The large rise to the vents behnind the doors appear to be real, and again keeping with the Enzo theme. The front is not dummy, either -- the reason it looks close to the 360 is because its supposed to. Earlier spy shots show a narrowing of the lights, and larger, full-width air-intake system. From the side, though, the 420 is intended to resemble the 360 fairly closely.

Truth be told, I think we're looking at something pretty close to the new 420.

Thanks for posting the pics mark. They are great.

Yea, most of it has to be camo, just like any other prototypes. They were probably testing the drivetrain, mechanics, and soforth with alot of disguised bulk on it. Later on when that is all done and they are at the final stages, they will probably test the finished car but diguised with tape, paint, & so on. Nonetheless other than all the bulk for disguise, the rear tail light treatment looks nice.
BUT on the other hand, if that IS what the 420 is going to look like in whole, Boy am I and all the other 360 owners lucky that we have the 360!!!^_^

Because at this stage it just looks like a mutated, similar to C5 corvette tail end but waay worse(cuz the C5 looks nice), Gallardo tail but bulkier and just cut off, bulky unsymmetrical rear fendered and unproportioned ugly 360. =P(just imo) But then again, maybe not. HmMMmmm...

Im sure the finished product will be nice looking! Lets just hope the powerplant is nice also!!!

PS Thanx alot for the pics!!!

I dont mind the car that much. I was hoping for somthing more "diffrent".
While the back looks allright, there is alot of wasted space there.
I hope they are just testing the mechanics of the new car.

Unless there is something dramatic about the new car, a lot of people will think about buying one, I suspect I do like the rear end, but the front looks just like the 360. I'll still get on the list.

The rear end doesn't look right with the whole car. I don't know why they are testing the car if it's going to be just a cosmetic touch up of the 360M. If they test the car because it's a NEW car, why the heck did they make it look so much like the 360M?

If this is indeed a 420M, I think the 360M will probably hold its value a bit longer.

hmm.. I think the Spider version of that would look very very nice.. I'm wondering whether it would be better to place a deposit on that rather than the 420 coupe ( it probably would mean an earlier spot on the list as well).. wonder if any dealers are taking that

The rear air intakes remind me of the lambo Canto development car. I hope they round off the edge of the rear 1/4 panels a bit; it looks too slab sided for me.

It's rather obvious that both the front and the rear are masked. The rear won't be a big block like that. Don't sweat it.

The front will be different too. I'd wager that it will be the single intake look that was floating around - as Porsche, Corvette and others have also switched from 2 intakes to one. That seems to be the current design trend.

Absolutely correct! The car is heavily disguised, same thing as they did with the 360. I guess in a couple of weeks we will see undisguised, but black-taped prototypes and the official presentation will be in Paris in October.
BTW, there's the rumour going round that the F430 will be presented to an exclusive clientele of Ferrari customers at the Ferrari Racing Days in September.

Some spy pics & discussions on this topic abound. Since it seems to be of interest to you along with quite a few others... F-Chat already has a bunch of links for you to enjoy. FWIW, Ferrari has recently trademarked the name F430 in both Italy and America, (though it is said it is powered by a 4.2-litre V8) - next year's model is "expected" to feature a new folding roof system.

    Thats heavy camoflage...

Although I have some reservations with regards to the utilization of the 612 styling cues on the almost perfect 360. ..

That said..I couldn't imagine the new 430 mid engine car not being an absolute beauty. Ferrari truly seems to have the magic when it comes to styling and curves..

I think we have to wait to see the car in its final form to decide.

Thanks for the spy shots though..

Its awesome that we could get insight so early on...

450 hp or more like 470?

    weight at???????????? an even 3000lbs?
