I actually like it. The front end reminds me of the TVR Cerbera Speed 12
I dont like it....The front bumper reminds me of a RX-8 and the body shape is like a Vanquish. Doesnt have the Italian Ferrari look..its as if it had a English/German Influence on it...Maybe Ferrari hired Chris Bangle?
Thursday, in Carmel, Ferrari is introducing a new car. Maybe the 575 replacement, maybe a special edition 575. We'll see what they've done that day, and we'll know. Got an invite, but have dinner plans in Monterey that evening. Art
BTW Art, the car they are showing in Monterey is actually a one off 575 custom car, and you can make an appointment on Friday or Saturday to see it. I'm set for 9:00 Sat. Wanna come with me? Dale
Hmmm... Just picked up R&T. Gotta love Peter Egan. Oh, first impressions on this car, well: 1. Perhaps this is just a photochop. 2. Perhaps this is a test mule designed to fake everybody out. 3. Perhaps I better start looking for a 575 with a stick. You know, the Stradale that I have order is starting to look better and better...
My initial impression - not great. Looks very similar to the 612 scag. Even bigger smile. I prefer the current 550/575. I hope its not bigger and heavier than the current model.
It is so ugly, I can't believe that it is more than a photoshopped fantasy. But on the other side, this were exactly my thoughts when I saw the 612...
It looks like a photochopped 612 to me, and I certainly hope that the final doesn't turn out anything like that. IMO, the 612 is a beauty, because it looks like what it is: an elegant, but fast GT. To me the 575 is about wrapping a vicious beast of an engine in a classy looking package. Still a GT, really, but one with a wild side that you can unleash. This thing looks too puffy to be vicious. I want some tighter, sharper lines.
I think that Ferrari is on the wrong way. Where is the aggressivity of the Testarossa, the shark shape of a 308/328, or something else that make Ferraris look similar to an UFO-car on normal streets? Ferrari is going to produce beautiful Korean-shaped GT, more similar to Bentleys and so far from real Ferraris. If they will continue on this way, I'm sure I'll buy only pre '98 Ferraris (p.e. 355). Vittorio
Looks WAY too much like the 612. Got really pissed when I heard and, unfortunately, saw this. But the front on the car in this pic is much nicer and more aggressive than the front of the 612. But the same R&T article states that "Pininfarina is in charge of the new car's styling, which is expected to differ as much from the Scaglietti as the 550/575 Maranello did from the 456M". But judging from this picture, which should be credible given the magazine in which it's shown, how the hell are they going to accomplish this???!!!!!!
Ferrari have never produced UFO cars, or rolling carnival shows as I like to call them. That market is well covered by Lamborghini. With perhaps the exception of the modern TR series and the modern supercars (F40/50 and Enzo), Ferrari has never made outrageous looking cars. They dont need to, the cars sell themselves. They have made beautiful (subjective), understated, and fast (although almost never the FASTEST) cars. Its funny to read the constant messages of Ferrari "loosing their touch" when in fact they have never been the type of company the poster wants them to be. I, for one, like it the way it is and love the current lineup for what they are -- not intended to be ultra-wild, attention-getting, multi-spoilered, UFO's. Ernesto
I think what makes the latest designs like the 612 and this one so goofy looking is the smile. Someone at Ferrari must like this look so Pininfarina obliges.
When I talk about ufo car is say it in the positive sense. Not cars full of spoilers etc. , but cars that can be at the same time elegant and aggressive, different from a korean coupè. When Testarossa was launched in '84 it was an impressive car radically different from all other cars on the market: a very elegant beast (again in the positive sense). IT WAS AN UFO CAR COMPARED TO ALL OTHER CARS ON THE MARKET!! And today everyone consider it one of the most beautiful ars ever produced. I only say that the style difference between Ferraris and normal cars is reduced a lot.
As they say,it will be slightly bigger then 575 but significantly lighter because of the larger alloy content. It will be a terrific performer too, since it will be lighter and more powerful then 612 which already is excellent in this regard. The R&T pic is just a guess of their staff not the actual rendition ,so we'll have to wait and see...
