I´m not a fan of the 599, but 30 years ago people said that the Daytona looked like a Corvette... so, who knows, maybe that 599 has a brilliant future ahead.

If everyone gave a rest to the "it looks like an xyz" and equally dull "no it doesn't" -- this thread would be a WHOLE lot more interesting. If you think it looks like a ZO6, a 350Z, a milk float that's FINE. If you think it looks like Ferrari's most beautiful car to date FINE. but is it really necessary to debate it ad-nauseum ??
You can't possibly think Ferrari is even aware there is a new Corvette, let alone looking to it for design cues. Even the brass and design chiefs at GM and Chevrolet openly admit they've taken cues from Ferraris for the last 30 years, as best they could, of course. The current Vette is a combination of the 456's side vents, the 575's length and proportions, and the 360's front lights. Look at the cars and you'll see it, clearly. And yes, I've seen the Vette on the road, and while it is the sharpest and most memorable Vette in nearly 40 years, there is absolutely no resemblance to the 599, other than 4 wheels, front-engine, compact sports car. Thanks for your thoughts...its hard to drop in on page 80 something on a topic and not add something that hasn't been said before in one or two lines. That said, I totaly agree with your comments above (other than Ferrari are not aware part) - maybe more to the point I was trying to make is I used to think of Ferrari styling as something that others WOULD and DID copy...I just am starting to get the feeling that they are now also doing a little of the following or worse yet, warming over old ideas. The wrecking yards are full of copy cat style cues from earlier Ferraris from the vega to the mazda, I'm just not as familure with as many Ferrari in the junk yard that came along after another car and looked like it. As for our boy blucamss ... I'll tell you the same thing I tell my kids as they are growing up - it's not always what you say, but how you say it. In the south I often hear some really nice folks say ...Oh Thaaats Niiice. When what they really mean is F@%k you. One seems to leave the person feeling a like more defensive than the other.
My friend, I still don't know what you see in the 599 or any other Ferrari that's following or warming over, but perhaps we'll meet when either one of us has the car and have a glass of wine and discuss our findings. I wasn't offended personally - but I kept checking this thread and it seems every few pages you were getting into something with another new poster. It's not that I have something personal against you, it was just an "intervention."
BluCamSS, You do tend to post incessantly without thinking first. For example, in this thread when I posted a new photo of the 599 in post #1146 your response was a very flippant "Guess you didn't look to hard lol....(post #1150). Although I sent you a pm I recieved no apology as this photo had not been posted before. Perhaps you are better served posting less and thinking before posting more. Every post here, (including this one), does not require a reply from you or casual observation. Try to focus on making concrete contributions.
I think the very bulbous engine cover of the 599 has something to do with new european regulations for the protection of pedestrians. There must be a large air gap between the hood sheet and the engine block casting so the head of the people you happend to hit will not impact lethal block metal. Euro car makers have been complaining for two years or so that the regulation means end of shapely cars.
True,the effect of that silly regulation can be also seen on the new MB CL spy pics and is one of the reasons they discontinued 55k engine in E/CLS. Considering that fact,Ferrari did a pretty good job accomodating these new rules.
Its why the new Jag XK has a pop up bonnet to increase the gap between pedestrian hitting said bonnet and engine block.
Thank you for summing up what was going to say..... I would also suggest that BluCam try to avoid irritating long time respected members. The only thing I have left to say is that your posts were not deleted they were just relocated BluCam bloviates about the 599
