I thought the 612 Scagletti was horendous the first time i saw it. Turbed out it is an awsome car! I hope this turns out to be the same.

If they'll put something like this in production, it would be the time to go search for a good 512 TR. Let's hope it's just photoshop.

I really don't like the design direction of these new ferraris...
This is the reason i'm leaving BMW..don't let me lose faith in Ferrari as well =(

    Yes.

They should give the Maranello a more agressive exhaust sound, better brakes, and add a retractable metal roof. For me, this would be the killer Ferrari. More power is definitely not necessary. You can drive very fast with the roof closed (on the famous German Autobahn for example ;)) and you can cruise around on a country road with the roof open and enjoy the sound.

No need for a new 612ish Ferrari.

I don't care for it. Looks like a character I'd see in one of my daughter's Thomas the Tank Engine books. Hopefully the final product will have less of a "goofy smile".

The RT photo of the car looks very similar to their guess at the 612 in the May03 issue (which they thought would be called 460GT)

Hey guys, this is a simple "photoshoped" image form a 612, if you look closer you will see the back seats... ! Will the Maranello replacement be a 2+2 ?! :)

people complaining about a new Ferrari design: What a surprise!
it's always the same...(don't you ever get tired of *****ing about new styling)
In fact it looks great: that huge smile rules! even meaner than Vanquish.

I expected the Maranello replacement to be mid-engined like Testarossa tho.

You learn to appreciate the line continuity of BMW when you hear Chris Bangle tell you it. Unfortunately, the forced continuity doesn't work for the overall design with aerodynamics prevailing.

Anyways, back on topic. I am almost positive that this is definately not going to be what the final production car looks like. I believe it was R&T that a while ago put out a gorgeous photoshop image of pretty much a Cadillac Sixteen in more sedan proportions and labeled it as the next STS. They were way off judging by the actual car which looks more akin to the XLR. I don't think the next Maranello will get the scalloped side treatment.
I would also be skeptical about the power ratings of as high as R&T did. They predicted the 996 Turbo to get 450 which wasn't achieved until the optional X50 package years later. I'd expect a marginal gain over the Scaglietti's engine to be around the neighborhood of 550-570 (think of 550 to 575M).
I don't know of anybody that could have guessed the name Scaglietti before its official introduction at the NAIAS. So I wouldn't place a bet on the name being Imola. Could be Fiorano or anything else.
Hopefully Brembo can make the ceramic brake disc's more affordable by the time of the production for the replacement. It seems kind of odd that with the production using chopped silicon carbide particulate which is supposed to be a whole lot more economical than SGL Carbon's (Porsche, Alcon by way of Brabus) silicon infiltrated carbon fiber disc's and still be magnitudes more expensive. I don't know if it is Ferrari or what that is doing that to the prices.

To close de discussion about Ferrari design... What do you think what the Ferraristi like us thought when they saw the Testarossa for the first time, a lot of people didn't like it, now it is considered as the most gorgeous design ever !!! The Ferrari design has allways been avant-gardist ! For example, when they preseneted the Modena, I didn't like it much, now I think that is a BEAUTIFUL car !

You will allways recognise a Ferrari between thousands of other cars in a parking place... even if you are not an expert and people will allways turn the head on a Ferrari ! :)

Folks, when I was at the unveiling of the Berlinetta Convertible concept car in PB, I specifically asked the designer who was present, a Sig. Giuseppe Bruno (I believe), about this picture in R&T. "It's a fake. It's a fake." were his comments.

The "600 Imola" in R&T doesn't look bad, however it does look basically like the 612. It is possible it will share design elements with the 612 but overall it will be a seperate design (at least i hope....while i like the 612 styling i hope the 2 seater will be more agressive looking). In reality we don't have any idea what its going to look like and were all just speculating. Hopefully it won't be long before we see official photos and then everyone can go to town bashing anything they don't like.
