Wow, those cover the entire area! That means you can go up driveways with reckless abandon. Nice

Thanks guys. Ferrari of Silicon Valley gave me a quote of $1000. This includes to paint the damage and the installation of the plastic skid plates.

    I will take a look at 4RE886 and Moogle's.

PS: Challengehauler from Boardwalk Ferrari offered them for $325 in a post on FChat. Wondering if that price still stands?

I'm sure that is still a good price, but that's a loong way to go to get skid plates...besides, ours are better - technically, they are exactly the same but since ours are closer to you, I'm going to say they are better. I can't match his offer, but I can certainly beat it - not by a whole lot, but enough.

    Greeting my fellow FOGers.

Quick update on my 328 "issues."

    1. Got a call from Brian Crall yesterday. He's never seen my issue before, but he thinks it may be cheap to fix - like a couple hundred bucks! I'll get more specific after it's completed and running, but what a HUGE relief.

    2. Finding a replacement fiberglass top is proving to be a challenge. (For those who may not remember, my top was runned over by a Porsche who was a little too anxious to get to the track and cut across the parking lot - and right over my top). It's probably going to cost about $3000 with shipping. I think we've found one on the east coast.

    3. Got a call from USAA insurance today. Now, before I say this, let me say that I'm a big fan of USAA. I've been with them 21 years. Well, they called to say that they are dropping the insurance on my Ferrari because I've been racing. WTF?! I told them I was not racing, I was just driving it on a track. They said, "Well, you filed a claim saying that your top was run over while you were driving on the track at Infineon." Yes, but I wasn't racing and I cancelled that claim anyway! They asked if I was in a racing club. Nope. (FOG doesn't count. It's not FRG, it's FOG). She took a statement and said she'd call me back. Well, she called back and said that my policy is invalid if I drive the car on a track (whether I'm racing or not), but since I've been such a loyal USAA member, they will continue to provide coverage. I just had to swear on the life of my new puppy that I'd never bring it to a track again.

I guess this gives me more impetus to get that 360. I promise I won't go anywhere near a track.

Change to State Farm. They cover track events as long as they are not competitive, timed races or events. Believe me they are the best. They covered my little damage that I had on my 360 in Laguna Seca (over $40k). And they did not drop me. I am still with them.

I can probably use the waterjet and cut them out to exact size for almost nothing. Just need the black plastic material. Then you can take it to Tony at T&R in SF and he can just pop them in for you!

    BTW....I have your umbrella!

I would think any indy or high end body shop. You just need to pull the bumper.

This is a concern most carriers have. Usually, the distinction is made based upon whether or not laps are timed. If there is timing, you are out of luck. However, if it is a course intended to improve your driving skills, (and with an instructor I'd argue it is) than some do cover.

I've installed a few sets myself, but my labor rate is @ $2000.00 an hour for that kind of stuff nowadays.

Just about anyone at Ferrari of San Francsico can put them on.

Is there an early morning drive tomorrow?

Please, please, please, read YOUR insurance policy. They are not all alike. Some exclude racing. Some exclude losses incurred on a course designed for racing. Some exclude losses incurred on a course closed for racing. Some exclude participation in timed or competitive events. The way some policies are written, they will not cover your car if you drive it to the race track to be a race spectator and get your window smashed in the parking lot while you are in the grandstand. READ YOUR POLICY.

bummer, 1974 - it should be a pretty nice morning, nonetheless...

I'll probably join you for the pre-drive, Vraiment - I've got a bit of work to do the next couple of weekends getting ready for an inventory and trying to get rid of some old parts, but I'll find a suitable car one of these days or at least ride along with some one...

Need to work tomorrow and miss my chance at having the youngest car on a drive... There's always the anti-football run but I'll be in Hawaii then.

Spent some time with Evan Shone at his new shop in San Rafael (www.sfmotorsports.com). Seems like they are setting up a pretty cool operation including a service component. Worth visiting IMO.
