Ferrari Owners Group (FOG) Aligns With Make-A-Wish® to Provide Hot Laps of Happiness for 11-Year-Old Arkansas Child

SAN FRANCISCO, March 23, 2016 – While driving in a Ferrari may seem like a dream come true for many, the Ferrari Owner’s Group (FOG) in San Francisco is making sure such dreams can become reality – especially for one very special child. Thanks to the group’s effort to create the Ferrari Owners Charitable Foundation (FOCF) and its alignment with Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area, a multi-day Ferrari-inspired program will begin on April 8th, supporting 11-year-old Austin from Jacksonville, Ark., whose one true wish is to drive in a LaFerrari, the limited production hybrid sports car built by Italian sports car maker Ferrari. Austin, who suffers from Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy, will live his dream at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, Calif., and will be joined with his family by Make-A-Wish staff, the Ferrari Owners Group and Ferrari Silicon Valley, where he’ll be experiencing passenger seat time both on- and off-the-track.

The three-day program, prepared especially for Austin, will include Hot Laps at Sonoma Raceway during the Ferrari Challenge race weekend; a tour of the personal Ferrari collection of Art Zafiropoulo, owner of Ferrari Silicon Valley; street rides in a very special LaFerrari hybrid sports car; and a weekend stay at the San Francisco Hilton Hotel where Austin will be presented with a commemorative embroidered jacket from the FOG organization and will be meeting a number of FOG members and their coveted Ferrari cars.

The Bay Area FOG and its charitable FOCF organization have supported Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area for three years, raising more than $500,000 to date. On September 10, 2016, the Foundation will launch the 2016 Golden Gate Ferrari Festival in the civic heart of San Francisco. An estimated 400 Ferraris, many selected from the finest and rarest collections, will be on display at San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza Park, where the streets encircling the Park will be shut down to allow for a truly exceptional event – with a goal of raising an additional $500,000 for Make-A-Wish.

For more information on either event, please contact [email protected].

    About Make-A-Wish® Greater Bay Area:

Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. In 2016 Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area celebrates 32 years fulfilling magical wishes. During its first year of operation, in 1984, the chapter granted 27 wishes. Now one of the largest chapters nationwide, the Greater Bay Area grants over 370 wishes per year and has granted over 7,200 wishes to date. The chapter covers 17 Northern California counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino, Napa, Marin, Monterey, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, Siskiyou, Solano and Sonoma. The goal of Make-A-Wish is to grant a wish to every eligible child. Anyone can suggest a child for a wish. For more information or to refer a child for a wish, please call 415/982-9474 or visit www.SF.Wish.org.

    About the Ferrari Owners Group

The Ferrari Owners Group (FOG) was founded in 2009 with a desire to share Ferrari ownership with fellow enthusiasts, while harnessing the spectacle of these vehicles to draw attention to and support for worthy charitable causes that support disadvantaged youth. In seven short years, the organization has grown to more than 400 members, held beyond 150 organized drives and collectively driven more than 1 million miles. In 2013, Ferrari Owners Group founded the Ferrari Owners Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, to further support its charitable endeavors. Through 20 major events, the organization has raised more than $750,000 for charitable causes. For more information or membership, view www.ferrariownersgroup.org.
