If that were a scam you would think it would be priced much lower. $30k plus a newer car is not much of a deal and is going to take a while to unload. Scammers typically put out an ad at a ridiculously low price point to quickly try to rope a poor sap in, and then remove the ad to limit the exposure of said scam. Also way too wordy and correctly descriptive when compared to you typical scam.

This is what a typical scam looks like..........

....and when the same ad starts popping up all over the country = dead giveaway

    Hi everyone,

I’ve been thinking about 308 ownership for a few months, and I must say that this thread and the FChat forums have been very informative.

I recently saw this ’84 308 GTS on a number of sites – does anyone know anything about it? (I have no personal connection to the car or dealer):

    Kind Regards,

Not that bad of price. Many here will tell you that it is due to the mileage, but I would rather have a car with honest mileage and that has been driven than something that claims to have 20k that has either sat it's entire life or has been messed with. A big dealer is going to have no idea whatsoever what they have or don't have on their hands (in terms of potential issues with the car) so it will need a PPI by a qualified F-car mechanic.

Little off topic but I was just looking at the 83 QV with boxer trim on ebay and it has a motorcraft oil filter on it!

Last bid I saw was $13100 but might have sold higher. I was having issues with my browser & this might not have been the final selling price, called Copart & they wouldn't release the final selling price after the sale (even to members).

I just bought an 84 GTS from a guy in VA and drove it home (over 900 miles). The title has issues, the car has a few things that need repair (this forum is a great place to figure it all out), but the price was really good for what I wanted....a first Ferrari and a driver. I will likely never lose a dime on it vs my new Camaro SS that lost 25% in the first year. Check it out, do a carfax, and if you like it...buy it. I absolutely love my car even with the issues. There's no car like a Ferrari.
    Enjoy,
    James

Congratulations James! It's good to know that another 308 is going to a home where someone will care for it like it deserves. Post some pics and some details about the work you do or get done to it, we need more buyers like you who tell us what's going on with these cars that have been newly acquired.

People here always make a big deal about how much maintenance costs, ect are going to be on a 'cheap' Ferrari, but the fact of the matter is that these costs pale in comparison to the cost one would lose on a new Camaro, Corvette, Mustang in terms of depreciation. I already know that the next argument out of these folks' mouths is that people don't budget for these costs when they purchase these 'cheap' Ferraris. True, but just as true is when people purchase these brand new vehicles, finance them up to the gills, that they are not budgeting for the depreciation as well. Ultimately when time comes to sell they are upside down on their cars. I guarantee that the latter takes place exponentially more times than the former.

great post. I took my 328 to the fish market yesterday for some salmon. When i pulled up, the owner came flying out, as did 4 other employees and then a few customers. They were not from Georgia, and were so appreciative to see and sit in the 328. The girls were aged maybe 16-24, and they knew a great deal about 328's. One of the girls mentioned she had a chevy something she saved money for and bought new. 4 years later she owes $9000+ on it and its worth less than $4000. They were shocked at my honesty as to how slow, but fun the cars are, and that you can buy one, sort it out, and not loose a bunch of money. I did tell the owner the car is going up for sale as I want to buy land and build my own gun range. He got my number and took a ton of pics of the car.

Plan it right and you can drive these cars FOR FREE. :)
