Jonathan, STOP TEMPTING ME! Look I have 3 already and you just keep finding more that are hard to resist. Someone please buy these cars...
Here's an ad for an '82 308 GTS, red with 38K miles for $ 20K. http://adcache.collectorcartraderonline.com/10/3/1/87968331.htm
Was this posted already? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1982-Ferrari-Mondial-Coupe-needs-tender-loving-care_W0QQitemZ200084681773QQihZ010QQcategoryZ6212QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Parts car, I would think. Needs about $10,000 worth of work.
To make it worthwhile, this thing needs a windshield. Glass windshield for a 308 is about $800.00, any idea how much a Mondial-8's would be? Image Unavailable, Please Login
That is Peter Sweeney's car. I can't vouch for the car; but I can vouch for Peter. He'll tell you straight. www.forzamotorsports.com
yes, I've been talking with Peter.. he is a nice Guy. We just need to set the price. Then I can fix that car. But, the Mondial 8 windshield is very expensive? How much is the question?
Funny you ask, I just found the receipt for the replacement glass on my Mondi 8 from the PO. total cost $250 it's listed as a 1982 Fiat spyder Star Auto Glass 925-427-9999 not sure how accurate the Fiat deal is but you never know.
Co-incidentaly I am about to manufacture a run of Mondial windscreens (windshields to you over there) in the UK. Pilkingtons are going to do this for me. For those who don't know already Pilkingtons manufacture 80% of the world's automotive glass both OEM and aftermarket. The laminated safety glass is of course manufactured to all applicable standards and has a choice of tints as well as different coloured sun bands at the top (basically you can have what you want). These are OEM windscreens made to the highest standards. I am paying for the tooling (Gulp!) for my Monzer project (the hits just keep on coming) , however, I will then have exclusive access to the tooling and can make single screens to order at any time. I think that the price ex-works per screen will be about 360 GBP (roughly US$700) or a little less plus shipping, however, if I can order 10 the first time I can get 7% off (about US$650 per screen). I will be keeping 3 myself so that just leaves 7. Time permitting I will be checking out the airfreight and surface shipping costs to Singapore later today, which should be comparable to the costs to the States. They are busy with concept cars for various motorshows right now so they have said 12 weeks before the tooling would be ready, in other words screens by the end of May. Regardless of the discount numbers needed I am going to do this so hop on board if you need or want a screen. Maybe I should start a new thread? Any questions?
A rough price from DHL for air frieght is about GBP150 to Singapore, say about US$300 or around $1000 delivered. That still compares favourably with Italian Car Parts of $1349 + $100 crating + $200 shipping (US$1649) within the USA.
Save $ 700.00 is a good thing. With a good engine and all the glass, this won't be a parts car anymore. (And, it's a Euro.) Image Unavailable, Please Login
