My friend Jerry has been seriously considering selling his 3.2 QV Mondial Cab. Red/Tan. It's a nice car. Has about 20K miles. It had only 16K when he bought it last year. But he hasn't been driving it much lately, and he's thinking about getting the new Chevy 789 instead. We drove the Mondial to Medford Oregon and back to Los Angeles last Spring, and it performed flawlessly. It's a nice car. And even though it was previously a garage queen for a very long time, it is now well sorted out and everything works. And it even retains that new car smell. You can PM me for details.

Pretty color for a Mondial, too, IMO.
This looks like it could be a good deal.....what is the low-down on Gullwing? What kind of issues have people had in dealing with them? I had them send me some more pictures of the car, I will post them in a minute and let our resident Mondial experts point out all the problems I always miss when I am enamoured by shiny paint and yellow horsey badges!!
Although the sterotypical red/tan 3.2 cab is first on my personal wish list, this car does catch my interest. It could be a nice car if things are decent mechanically. I like the coupes, and this is a neat color combo. I HATE the rubber bumpers with most colors, but they look pretty good with this color. I also think they look better on coupes for some reason. More pictures....after a quick look I see what appears to be nice paint, fairly clean engine, a lot of armor-all, tired leather, clean headliner, somewhat worn carpet, and some oil leak(s). From what I hear, Gullwing tends to have less than perfect cars at lower prices. That's not necessarily a bad thing. For the price, that Mondial doesn't look bad, IMHO. I wouldn't try to make a 100 point concours car out of it, but it could be a good driver.
Rumor has it that Gullwing is bad about returning calls and is generally just very short and rude with customers, but I have no first hand experience in dealing with them. I'm sure it needs a little attention, but how wrong can you go at $16,500? I mean, purchase price plus a major service and a general sprucing-up would still be under 20k for a DIYer, right? I'm still wet behind the ears when it comes to Ferraris, so take my advice with a grain of salt. I can't say if it's the right car for you. All I can say is if I hadn't bought my 400i I would be considering this car very, very seriously. I too have been known to overlook important facts in the presence of horsey, trident, raging bull, or wing badges.
Gullwing has been IMPOSSIBLE to communicate with. i have gotten to the point i wont even consider their cars, as they will not give out enough info to warrant the time off from work and travel expense to see what they are selling. i am all for cars that need love, but i would GO THERE IN PERSON, before spending any cash.
9 hours left with a BIN price of $8,900 (if it is not a scam). http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1982-mondial-8-good-for-parts-and-or-race_W0QQitemZ140108963758QQihZ004QQcategoryZ6212QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
No Scam.......! She's MINE! (Put me down for one front windshield , please.) Now the drama begins. Thanks Guys Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was glad to see the Mondail at Gullwing under discussion here, because the car certainly caught my attention. From those of you with experience, what would it cost a DIY'er for the parts needed for a major service (belts, w. pump, seals, clutch plate, throwout bearing, etc)? Any guesstimates?
Clutch is easy to DIY, , not to placed in the same class as a major. Just remove the left rear wheel,,, in and out for $ 500.00 Even the main seal is a $ 4.00 NAPA part.
Great! Now, when do you take possesion? After that you need to list everything that you need to get the car running and on the road. BTW I will have loads of parts here and sea freight is cheap. I will be good to see the thread of this project and the progress over the next few months.
Well,, I hope she can make it cross country in 10 days. ( Oh no,, I think I'm getting a woodie.) She is dark, sexy and Euro, , No? Image Unavailable, Please Login
EbaY # 230121828275 This thing needs some work,,, $ 17,500 + Not worth it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
If I'm not mistaken that is the car Peter Sweeney had for sale for quite some time. You might want to contact him.
Thanks,, Yes, Peter at FORZA was a big help. Jim, No, not drivable yet. I want to get a look at those belts.
Here's a scary one: The owner tried to do his own belt change and gave up halfway through. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ferrari-Mondial-Quattrovalve-convertable-cheap-no-res_W0QQitemZ170106392230QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item170106392230
It's cars like these that makes the remaining good ones worth a bit more..... ...of course, not that we would sell...
