Or also to somewhat "hide" (reduce, cover) the massive size of the airboxed door? I think the shield, if any, should be on the fender and not on the door. Marcel Massini

Great pics! Didn’t realize cooling openings were half-NACA. I was thinking this new car was really inspired by this behind the front wheels and along the tops of the doors. Also a 512S, yes? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, I think Gordon Murray is a great engineer, but as a designer he´s average. He probably would only complain about the weight and the auto gearbox, as usual.
Excellent pics. No comparison in my mind. The rear has the worst elements on the Daytona whereas on the P5 it’s dramatic and evokes speed. The worse thing about the shape on the Daytona is that the desire to create that sweep from the top of the the wheel openings resulted in a rounded square shape for the wheel openings. This was repeated at the front instead of using a traditional and more aesthetically pleasing round opening. It just makes even that aspect seem gimmicky.
Based on P3/4? NO. "Based" on P5 (250 P5 of 1968, that is). Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think that the 3 striations, under the height of the exhaust, on the left and on the right would deserve to be of black color to lighten the rear. Can someone do this please ?
The car is ruined by its extremities; the front, with the strakes under the lights and the pointed trimming of the bodywork at the sides and below the headlights looking like a McLaren (not a compliment) and the rear is just way overdone. The rest… Image Unavailable, Please Login … is not bad, LOL, though the “tunnels” within the doors for radiator inlet and front wheel well venting smack of gimmicky too. There seems no incentive for this design team to do proper design for aero and weight efficiency. Seems to be all about playing with the geometry of shapes.
Really strange that they don’t even mention the P5 in their media information when is so obviously influenced by that car! I see they did mention the 512 S though which is the obvious inspiration for the radiator cooling inlet and the rear fender (simulated) bulge.
