Hey, I replied to this post and it now it has been deleted - that's weird! Anyway, I said all first Outbackers get first preference on the next one, but that we should have lots more jump seats for extra video crew if there are professionals out there with a yen for speed and good times who want to work for free to make a slick vid for us.
the video crew can bring their own car along - maybe a van so they can film out the back. We don't need them distracted by getting rides in these cars. Yep, but you'll have to wait until Sunday afternoon/evening.
Yep I remember it, just didn't realise how right you were. Why was that in an Alice Springs newspaper, or did you get a copy of an Adelaide one?
Now that you mention it, the video crew boss who filmed my car for the Adelaide Motor Show TV commercial said he would be interested in doing some filming out on the road just for fun. He has a camera rig set up in his van with sliding doors and uses it for doing car commercials etc. He might need to turbo the Starwagon before our gig though!
Well you should have my photos by Wednesday at the latest. As I said to dingo, last I heard Chris hadn't had a chance to put his video on disc so we'll have to wait for that lot.
clicky clicky: Gallardo drive by (6.7mb - 45secs) (rated PG for language, religious themes, and annoying laughter... was gonna edit it out but... )
Seems to me that Ash should be paid to put together the DVD. Peter and Mark seemed to be able to market and manage the disk internationally. Surely we could at least cover the expenses of your cars coming to Alice and their subsequent resprays etc. Even if we pooled the money to pay for next years trip it seems to me that Outback Australia is very marketable to the Americans and Europeans. For Dingo and Cam they would appreciate the opportunity to make enough money to do the next trip business class and no more backpackers!! Hell even bring the girl friend cos I hear the nubile germans slept in other guys bunks :-( How can we be smart enough to buy these cars yet miss such a great opportunity to make good fun pay!!!
I tell you what that was the most incredible fun. Especially Ash's voice coming over the CB sayinbg there is a car heading you way with lights on it. So we pulled over and waited for it and it was just a transport inspector so we wait for him to pass and did it on the way back. I reckon we must have got bloody close to 200 (sorry Scud, he will probably blame me) People on the side of the road had their cameras out just need to find them
I'm fine in economy really, its only a 3hr flight. Staying at the backpackers did have its advantages, and who told you the Germans slept elsewhere? We could make this a full-time business, just spend all year driving around and getting video/pics and become multi-millionaires.
video: Porsche GT2 overtakes Boxster (8mb - 48secs) well, you don't see the overtake, but you'll notice that's not the important part... camerawerk and commentary courtesy of Dingo
BWAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!! here's a few snips from the footage i was just checking out... "hmm, is that the Murci stopped up ahead? wonder if there's a problem..." Image Unavailable, Please Login
and a rather unique shot here... this is a shot of Peter urinating, taken through the open scissor doors of the Murcielago, from a Ferrari driving past at somewhere circa 250kph. anyone else taken a shot like that?? Image Unavailable, Please Login
video: Road Train!! (30secs - 4mb) probly not too interesting for aussies, but let the yanks see what a REAL truck looks like. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Look if you are going to the show the big footage you could have asked me to turn around!! Wish I had the video of the cars from my side as it would have been magic. We heard the distant howl followed by the sound and speed of a squadron of fighter jets sweeping past. Actually good enough to make a guy pretty excited. Peter and I talked about what we would do while we waited for all the other cars. We checked the engine, drank a bottle of water and decided to have a leak while we waited......
Nice work Ash, I'll check out the vids tonight when I'm back on ADSL. I love the shot of Peter through the exotics - turned out well! Did you take it? Here is another idea I thought of today - what about making some posters that we could also sell? I quickly did these two so you can see what I mean.....$10-15 each when you buy the DVD maybe???? I thnk there are plenty of options we have. Calendars etc. But I think we need a good DVD first. Do we know if Martin in going to mention the website (exotics in the outback not fchat) in the article. It would be a good way to promote and also Motor usually does a short story on a motoring DVD most months in the magazine.
