I'm pretty sure the Gallardo has a higher top speed than the GT2, I'm more interested in knowing about acceleration. Damn I wish I had been there :(

Well the official figures say 196mph vs 192mph in favour of the GT2.....so thats 315kmh for the GT2, 17kmh less then what the speedo showed.

It would have been interesting to get the Gallardo in on the little 'drag races' we did, but only the CS, GT2, Murci, 360, Monaro and Boxster competed in those. ;)

yeah it's amazing how time flies when you're doing 4 or 5 km per minute  we didn't really stop for 1/10th of the great opportunities we would have had for races and photo ops.

of course when you're out there with the red mist it doesn't seem so important, but now sitting here in my crappy day job i wish i had more pics and footage to spend time drooling over. :(

    What's the story Mark??
The GT2 did a measured 195mph in the infamous AMS test. As a point of reference the 550 only managed 190mph, unfortunately the Gallardo wasn't around at the time to be tested.

Here's the front of mhh's car - just for comparison with the CS. ;) From memory the fastest the Gallardo got too was (an indicated) 298kph, so not shabby at all. :)

don't underestimate the GT2. it is a weapon. i dragged the v12 murci and after the start as i pushed harder than nev as he didn't want to ruin the clutch the distance between us stayed the same.i didn't pull away and he didn't catch me. i would back the GT2 all the way to redline in 6th against any car except maybe the new 430 if reports suggest a sub 4 sec 0-100 . thats moving

you will find the makeup of the different front noses on the cars are made out of slightly different compunds. my GT2 faired better than the CS and the nose is softer and absorbed more before chipping the paint. my panel beater told me today porsche etc use more resin/different compounds etc?? than the ferrari and as a result the CS nose comes out harder and more prone to paint chipping

a 360 is a 360 and the CS is a CS, bit like saying a V8 supercar is the same as an F1, chalk and cheese

and speed is a question of money, how fast do u wanna go?

stock standard 460hp and 620nm( available at about 4000rpm) pushing about 1370kg. i wasn't about to throw $$$$ at this thing with those sort of stats. it's scary enough as it is.

Sounds like an awesome trip guys. Good on ya all. great pics too... especially the "playa" shot... Jack the lad........!!

Sand blasting at 300kph is pretty hard core though! I remember having a Bee hitting me on my adams apple while riding my bike at 240km/h... thought I'd been shot!!

OK, I'll rephrase my tongue in cheek comment:

'Or the Gallardo got better aerodynamic efficiency than a CS?'

And the speed question was about how fast Mark went. And the answer was 298kph.
    That's it, nothing more.

You're looking too much into my comments!

very nice Mark, but i'll still stand by the fact that the TR would not be in the same company as these vehicles and would not have come within cooeeeee of the gems even the munro
