Forgot to mention my moment of laughter this morning. I was cruising down a road today that had an 80kmph limit and I looked down and saw I was doing 93 and thought, gee I better slow down before a cop gets me. At that point I just burst out laughing at the thought of getting caught at 13 over the limit after our glorious weekend.

I guess, however after having driven many kms in new Monaro's it's hard to imagine a car like the TR not keeping up. The Monaro is quick, but not that quick really. Drove a 997 the other day, now that was quick!!! The difference in speed between that and a 993 is chalk and cheese already though, so I guess 20yo cars have no chance.

Although I guess the compensation comes in the Monaro having no soul and the TR.... well I've seen the videos! :D

Sat here tonight with my wife, Peter and his wife and we watched the video Peter took of the weekend.

Roger & Robert will know from the preview at the Alice Springs airport what Peter's commentary is like and I can tell you, it doesn't get any better. I laughed my arse off until I nearly cried because I realised the weekend is over and I will have to wait until we do it again next year.

For those of you who thought about going and didn't, I feel sorry for you. For the passengers who sat in the cars while the drivers did unbelievable speeds, I congratulate you and tell you that I could not have done the same. To actually take photographs and video while it was occurring is truly amazing.

For myself, I believe it was truly the best experience I have ever had whilst driving and I wouldn't change a thing regardless of how much it costs me to repaint the car.

I have taken a digital copy of the video and will produce a DVD. If Ash, Cameron or Jan want to let me know via a PM where to send it, I will post it off so you can take the bits you want to include in the finished product.

Thanks to everyone who showed up and made the weekend what it was... bloody great!

Looks like there isn't a bad word to say about the trip from anyone.....all I can think of was the 2hr wait for dinner on one night. :D

How did Mark get on with my tapes? I am eager to get them (and others people footage) back so I can watch it all again......can't let the memories escape my head for too long. :D

My friends and family are already pestering me for some video action.....but they know the deal. ;)

You guys were just fantastic and the video and photos from the chopper looked great when we previewed them at Neville's. Damn shame we missed the spider fly by during the shoot but Cameron and I had a buzz in the car whilst doing it. It puts a certain edge on doing a three point turn when a car could come over the rise at 300 kph at any moment :)

Yes, that was a bit of a rush as was most of the weekend :)

Picked up the car from the transporter this morning but unfortunately the ferrari fairy god mother hadn't fixed it during the trip home and tomorrow I will get the quote for the repairs - Wouldn't change a thing.

Dingo, I'm working my way through the tapes and will finish them on the weekend. Gettting it captured is taking a while as a couple of the source tapes have gaps and the program doesn't like this.

There is some excellent stuff and some very blurry stuff. For starters, I'll do a DVD of everything for you and Ash and return the tapes to you pronto. Then I'll do them on demand for the rest of the crew. Ash's edited highlights DVD will be the one to wait for.

There's some great stuff from the Glen Helen road (of course) but some even better stuff IMO from the run to Cannonball.

yeah there's a stretch of 20-25 minutes where i was filming in the Spider on the Cannonball Run, when we pulled over me and gekko were just like "WTF were we thinking?", that should be some astonishing footage.

    1. I connected Peter's camera to one of my kid's iMac G5 via a standard firewire cable.
    2. Run iMovie and tell the iMac to import the video and it controls the video camera.
    3. Add chapter markers and headings where ever you want. The iMac automatically figures out the seperate clips.
    4. Export to iDVD, set a theme and drag and drop clips into the menu frames.
    5. Insert DVD and click burn.

Why isn't Apple more successful? I can't imagine what I would have to do with a PC but then I had no idea what to with the Mac before I started either.

PS Had a ball selecting which bits to put into the menu frames :)

don't talk too soon... the CS and Murci both had some issues that were fixed by switching the car off and letting the pooter's reboot then switching them on again... CTRL-ALT-DEL baby!!!

and the CS has a START button

Yeah I expected that - hard to keep the camera steady at 280kph on those bumpy roads we drove on day 1. :( It will still be great to watch it all.......can't get this great trip out of my head. :)
