I think this is the best deal in my entire life, found on craigslist, made a low ball offer sight un-seen. The lady recently lost her husband and accepted my offer first thing and I paypal'd her. Went to pick it up today and was SHOCKED at how nice it is. The original paint and interior is in great condition and it RUNS! Even has a matching spare. This car was last registered in 1984. The ONLY problem is that her late husband began jacking with the wiring and gauges and removed the dash. Unfortunately she cant find it, so all the gauges are just hanging there. I need to find a dash for it, or build one out of wood with a template. As far as paint, I am just going to wax it and keep the original patina, I surprised how good the car looks in that color. WIN! Good for you... My Europa was a great car ... I may just have to start watching those ads myself! beev
Jason, Nice find! Did that car come out of Maryland by chance? So does this make 3 for you at this point? Also, recarding the dash.. I think it would be nice to make one from or do an overlay with carbon fiber. I was never really crazy about the wood. Regards, Paul
Paul, this makes three... This car was in Pittsburgh and has been there since 1984. I haven't done any searching yet on the vin so it may be from Maryland. I need to stop buying and get the projects I already have done, but this was a steal in my opinion and couldn't pass it up Carbon fiber would look cool!
Ok, not the car I was thinking about.. there was a brown Europa in nearby in MD. I stopped and talked with the owner and he said he was thinking of selling, that was a year and half ago. Haven't seen it around in awhile and the house is now up for sale so I was wondering. I feeling regarding the "need to stop buying and get the projects I already have done." What a sickness huh?
Interesting, this ZETEC car popped up on ebay last week, now gone. I think it was 17 grand or so. Info at Bring a Trailer site here.... http://bringatrailer.com/2011/09/02/zetec-swapped-clean-1974-lotus-europa/ Cool car.
Funny, that car was for sale/sold a year or so ago in the low $20's. Surprised to see it for sale again so soon... Unless it didn't sell the last time around?
Nice find Jason! Was at a British Car Show last weekend and there were 3 there. I'll upload pics when I get a chance.
I miss mine... but he offered me such great money for it.. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kp71icT40cs[/ame] beev
Cool thread. I just bought a tcs. Trying to find 14 or 15 inch wheel choices. The original wheels are nice, but 13 inch tires are a little tough with selection. Any ideas ?
While traveling through Alabama we stopped at the place where I bought my Ferrari 308. To my surprise he now has a '74 Europa for sale. Nice car. http://www.mitchellclassics.com/1974-lotus-europa.html
Here you go, a sad Europa seen at EuroTire in Fairfield, NJ recently. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Thanks! I have been looking for awhile and I pretty much gave up , then this showed up when I went to look at a 356 race car. I am very happy to finally try one. This is a very early car #576 made in 1967 for the French market. One owner put all the miles on it. Then it was a unregistered show car for the next two owners. I have already signed up for a British car drive to Colorado this fall.
Im down in Tucson often and would love to see it in person. Also feel free to reach out if you need anything in Colorado, I have a full Garage all ready for Lotus if you need anything ;-)
Welp, Found another Europa and purchased it, will pick it up next week and trailer it home,, Not a super nice example but its all there and the price was right. Excited to get her going over the summer. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
