I like the green but a red interior will simply destroy it. Green needs a softer interior but it is me, i never like the way Ron McDonald dressed either. As for $200K, now I get it ! it is a prank.
I agree. I'm not a fan of red interiors at all and on a green car is is extra awful, (to me). A saddle / tan interior would be sweet, even a black could pass.
1980 Merak RM Auction $77,000.00 http://motostalgia.com/car-detail/?car=AIC16-1980-Maserati-Merak-&vin=AM122AUS2690-CarId31574-82 Seems like a good buy for such a low mileage example
I sold that car last year. The low mileage is real. As far as being a good buy .... only time will tell. Ivan
Museum shut when the owner died last year. Big auction June 25-6. Only one Merak. A very early one. White. The other one was not on the list. Anyone want a Maserati. This is the chance
There used to be a special thread for this sort of car, deal of week or something. Probably cheaper to just burn the $17.5K than actually take possession of this mess.
Restoring one is not cheap. I started with a car that 18,000 miles. I paid $18,000. Yes. Interior suspension cost $30,000. Motor rebuild $15,000(done three times) three shops. Last a hole got it right. The cars still Ned paint. That is at least $6,000 with a clear cost finish.
The price in the above advert is not real. Yes the car was for sale, but for a reasonable price. It sold and its now in new hands.
I stay in touch with Mitchell. He is having a very rough time with recovery. He needs everyone's prayers. Ciao, George
I cant understand how someone would spend $17K on that mess. May be there is something I am not getting on the psychology of selling trash cars. The chicken poop syndrom? I only see the nice one which are actually not that easy to sell to start with.
This concours winning Merak SS sold last week for GBP 85,000 (about $106,000 US): For Sale 1981 MASERATI MERAK SS ? SOLD | Bicester Sports & Classics It was only on the market for a couple of days! Image Unavailable, Please Login
The car sold by Bicester (VIN AM122.A.591) is actually a rare example of a late production "SS" model that had a very good restoration with very few mistakes, no wonder it sold so fast.
After I picked up the cylinder head from him in Lexington, I visited him a couple of times in the spring and summer when he was in Columbus for treatment. Seemed very determined to continue the fight and was in good spirts. I spent time listening to car stories, and let me tell you, he has a few of them. Hope he rallies, one more time. Nick
Thanks gentlemen for the inquiries. I will start a new thread once I get Mitchell's OK. I will only give a general update if any just to protect Mitchell's privacy. Ciao, George
Depression is now my worst enemy. Dialysis three times a week at three hours is a big cut out of my life and I cried at least an hour when I added the time from my life. On top of that loss of personal time transport is now a consumer. 1-5 hours waiting for return. 15 hours lost. Cause for another three hours crying I am finally past crying
Hi Mitchell, sorry to hear that you're struggling, but glad to hear that you're still hanging in there. Hope you pull through and beat this. We're all rooting for you! Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Hey Mitch, Thinking of you and wishing you the best... health has such a huge impact on one's psyche.. Sorry you are having to slug it out. Cheers, - Art
Hi Mitchell, Glad to hear from you and all your car loving mates, hang in there and make the world a more entertaining place. I wish you all the best in your latest battle and try and stay positive if you can. All the very best Julian
