I'm not planning to stray too far from the Lakes. We'll probably stay near the lovely little lake Molveno (spectacular views and great roads) or near Madonna di Campiglio (ski resort, plenty of good hotels, very very nice roads and passes all around). From there you either go down the Garda lake and take the highway towards Milan, or you can take the "connoisseur's" choice - the awesome Tonale Pass (FANTASTIC road), then the Aprica Pass (did it last year, very narrow but it's ok - just be careful in the blind corners and beep your horn all the time) and simply drive on past Sondrio all the way to the northern tip of the Como Lake. From Campiglio it will take you 3 hours. I'd love to go further north to the spectacular and awesome Passo Sella ("voted best road in Italy" in 2004) but that will be too much coming from Tuscany. We'll probably do it as a weekend thing some other time.
Sounds awesome doesn't it Mark - can't wait Andrea thanks for PM - will organise transfer over the weekend
you travel is going to be wonderful... many italias never make such a great travel in Italy, it's incredible!
I started appreciating and loving Italy's beauty, art and environment after I left the country to work abroad... sometimes we fail to appreciate what beauty we have under our noses. I miss Italy very much now but realistically I could never afford an F-Car like the 550 if I worked there... so I have to enjoy it as much as I can in my holidays
Hey Ton, i would very much appreciate your proposal but we did not have to send Wolfgang to the near farmhouse - he can sleep in his wonderful Testa.... If there is any choice to join this trip with you please let me know. Furthermore i would join this ride by my own organisation of hotel if you can give me more details about the road trip. Sincereley yours, Uwe
Hi Uwe, Great to hear from you again after such a long time. I understand from Wolfgang that you have been really busy. Andrea is doing the whole organization for the Tuscany trip. Please contact him for more information. It would be great to have you around in Tuscany. Ton
Hi Ton, I'm reading here very often but as Wolfgang has pointed out - I'm absolutly under stress (private the same as business). We have an deal in Brussels and the implementation has to be finished at end of january. From 19th - 22nd of February I will be in Brussels (with Beate). Maybe you fill find a little time that we can meet there ;-) Furthermore we have an absolute deal with the European Central Bank which steal me a lot of time being out of the office.... I really miss all of you and it hurts that i will not find the time to join this community with all the persons I know in person... So i will take the chance to join the trip to Italy with all of you - Maybeeeee.... Sincerely yours Uwe
Uwe, I will definitely make time to meet up with you and Beate. Just let me know when and where you are. And YES, I expect you to be there during the Tuscany Rally!
Ton, forget Uwe, just meet up with Beate Hi Uwe, nice to see you on the board again and hope to see you on the Tuscanny trip.
I will have a look on it - Big Brother is watching you ... Hi Simon, i will hardly try to join - Italy is the most wonderful country BUT... its not for the country but for you all ;-) PS: I have to keep my promise to give you a black Ferrari T-Shirt (you remember?) Sincerely yours, Uwe
Hi Ton, definitly not ;-) Simon is smaller than you. His shape looks like mine... (or better not? ROTFL) Sincerely yours, Uwe
Ha ha! Yes, Simon is not a very tall guy! I am happy that you have a shirt for him. That gives the guy something else to wear for a change. But he owns a great car! His car is really like brandnew. Beautiful! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Ton, a totally agree with you. Simon's car is wonderful. I know it from the swiss tour. Perfect condition. My car has been totally rebuild at the front part. It looks like a brand new car. By time I will post some pictures of the done work - it has been done by the garage, Mark knows too. I have to go into a meeting, bye ... Uwe
Hi everyone, I just noticed that the start of our Tuscany trip will coincide with the final of the football world cup. I don't know how many of us care, and probably the final will be something boring like Brazil-Spain, but what if it turned out to be Germany-Italy? Or England-Germany? I guess some of us wouldn't want to miss that!! So I ask all of you - should we try to see the match in the evening at the restaurant in Italy during dinner (I'll ask U'Giancu if he can provide a TV), or should we try postponing our departure to Monday morning, July 9? In that case we could all meet at the hotel in Switzerland on the 8th to see the match. Suggestions, anyone?
I don t care about succer Well for sure we could see th final together at the restaurant - bu not important IMO just for fun? The schedule should stay like it is/was!
I am not a massive football addict but the World Cup Final is not something I want to miss! Especially if (yeah, right) England are in it. I don't suggest we change the schedule but would like to watch the match wherever we are at that time. Imagine the atmos if there are two Euro teams in it, possibly with representation on the rallye for each!
