I supposed the anonymity and instantaneous editing is what baffles me. Wax, you could post, "Wax is good" and I could follow directly behind you and erase "Wax is good" and replace it with "Wax is bad"? And there would be no visible indication that there was a change made, and who made it? The value of such a system is nil, IMO, if there are no checks and balances.

Edit: At least on a site like www.urbandictionary.com, the definitions given remain identifiable by who submitted it, and the users of the site vote which definition is more accurate. However, I realize that there is a difference between the most popular interpretation of a word or phrase, and the most popular version of facts. While the validity of a definition of a word becomes more valid the more "votes" it gets, a statement purported to be fact, or version of an historical event, is not necessarily more correct just because it is more popular.

For the record I'm not the one who wrote the original article.
I'm not the one who made the comment Tony cited.
I've have of course edited and am not editing anonymously.
The first time I saw the letter Nathan referred to was on wikipedia.
The first time I thought the letter could be real was when I read Nathan's post about it.
It's pretty wild about the letter.
I can't understand why someone posted it there first instead of here first.

ps do you have a copy of the 1968 book Ferrari: The sports and Gran Turismo Cars by Warren Fitzgerald and Richard Merritt?

There are a lot of nice P3 and P4 photos in there.

Maybe it’s because they’re fed-up of being ‘flamed’ when they post something that those who are blinkered and unwilling-to-reason don’t like?
Or may be they’re just afraid of being threatened with law-suits?

This letter, if it is real, is very helpful to my case.
It confirms that 0846's chassis was written off and scrapped, not melted into oblivion:

"Therefore eventual pieces retrieved from the trash container should not have been used to rebuild or to revival a car which was written off, if this is the case."

If you believe that FCHAT is one sided and someone would be flamed for not supporting me, posting this letter, if it is real, would have the opposite effect.

Just to return and add to the main subject of this thread (and so many previous ones!); I've had the privilege of visiting Jim aka Napolis and seeing a lot of photos of 0846 that haven't been posted publicly, and of crawling all over 0854 (a 'no-questions' car) looking at Le Mans scrutineering stamps (and also riding in it - whoowee, what a ride!) and talking to Sal - all of which strengthens my convictions which were originally formed from the physical and photographic evidence presented on this forum.

Nice shots! I was on the other side of the pits. I envy you for your access. Helas! If you use a Sepia filter on those they look vintage.

Nice to see recent photos of the car on the track. Of course I was sent numerous interesting photos of this car in Piper's garage over a month ago by another person who is banned from the board for very little justifiable reason. If he was still allowed to post, we ALL could have been seeing pictures of this car, and others, MANY weeks ago.

Like I said before, YOUR loss, not mine.

Arlie, You really are a small person.

I don't care if you share pictures or not, but you are saying "Neener, Neener,Neener I've got something you don't!" I expect that from my 6 year old. I don't expect it on Ferrari chat.

The truth hurts don't it. I feel your pain. No wait! I don't feel your pain because I saw the photos. Oh well. Too bad.

I was fortunate to have the access because a great friend of mine was driving the '64 GTO in the TT race, the finest selection of historic machinery I've ever seen gathered together in one race.

You missed my point. (Actually I know you got the point, you just ignored it because you are a troll).

I don't feel pain because I don't care if you share or not.

I merely point out that you are childish. (or a troll) Take your pick.

    Arlie,
Here's something a small child could understand: you're not banned, so anything Paul Skett sends you, you can post.................or you could if you actually wanted to.

Macca, that would be contributing something to the thread in a positive manner. I know that you are fully aware that such actions are completely contrary to Arlie's raisonne d'etre.
