I'll shoot some. It's amazing. Burl wood, engine turned dash, Jageur 8 day clock. Driving this one is like driving a time machine. It's not something you soon forget.
Not to mention a rather sophisticated mercury filled crank, dohc/4 valve head in '29. Engine note is quite evil as well...exhaust cut-out helps too. J's and the 8C-2300 both surprised me 1st time I heard them. Couldn't help but grin. LK
The face vent, which comes from a renault 8 gordin1 11/34? I think part number SOFI CA BGT SGDG, DAMN TRICKY TO FIND mAX
would love to see a few pics also, holding breath in anticipation!!! always nice to gaze on " nude" pics of 0846 as well!!!! cheers! michael
Thanks Jim I would appreciate that. I just love the character that some of the older cars have. You certainly don't get that with too many of the new cars out there today.
That picture is from the Christie's lineup that they have every year outside of the NBC building in NYC, right? Did you buy it from a Christie's auctoin, or were you just showing it there? After dinner at Smith and Expenskies last summer, I walked over to see the cars in the POURING rain. It was late, and there they all were, waiting to be auctioned sometime in the near future. There was nobody about, it was quite a sight through the falling rain.
Sorry to sound so ignorant, but what is this car we are talking about? Pics looks wonderful. I did a search on 0846 at www.barchetta.cc and came up with a P3 That was wrecked at Mugello??? This thread sounds interesting, please fill me in. Vasco.R
That's where I bought it. Before I bought it it had won several major awards but was a trailer queen disaster. Sal took it apart and we got it back in full running condition. It's a wonderfull driver. Lee The exhaust control is actually a shunt that increases backpressure for more low range torque. This particular car is ex Queen Marie bodied by Franay. In 1932 when $20. per week was a living wage she paid 20K to Duesy for a rolling chassis and 20K to Franay for coachwork. Thats more that 2 million in today's $'s.
Jim, Are you putting a front license plate on the P4? If so, how are you going to attach it? I was surprised that the MKIV's plate seem to be screwed directly to the body.
The problem with driving these cars on the street without a front plate is that it give the police the right to pull you over at whim. Even though I've never receiced a ticket I got tired of being pulled over for a look/see everytime I went for a drive. The plate screws into threaded rivets so it's really no big deal to remove it. On the P4 I have an dupilcate panel so it's even less of a deal to swap it off.
Jim, I think you are holding back some pictures on us . It looks like the front bulkhead is mostly together, ie. master cylinders?, pedals?, etc., all very, very interesting stuff. And when is that engine going in, come on get that whip out and get that team of yours working , man we are starved over here Pete
Hi Final fuel system plumbing is going in all 30 feet of it. (Remember with mech. FI this all runs at 135psi+). Next we're making up oil lines and then engine will go in. Wiring is being run. We're hopefull that by July we'll be testing. Master cylinders, pedals, brake and clutch lines are all run. Dash is finished, ready for wrinkle painting. Best
I presume you already undid the wiring wrapped around the fuel line. Bonus: (Ever figure out why they did that?)
Wax The car where the wiring ran through the fuel cell area was my Lola. You can see pics: http://www.gt40s.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=LeMans&Number=20857&page=1&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1 In the P4 the water lines run through the fuel transfer pipe and we figure that is to heat the fuel to the point where it atomises easier for the Mechanical FI. Best
Damn, you sure like to rub it in don't you. Aren't you supposed to be studying or something? I'm telling.... Dr "Still wishing that I had been there" Tax
Jim. What are those auxiliary (lower) rear tail-lights you are using ? They don't look quite right in the 5th photo down. Aren't they supposed to be the same as 250SWB/250GTO units ? (See photo below - off Lyle Tanner's website) ....
For those that did not know (er, like me ) there are heaps of P4 photos in the General Discussion threads regarding the '2nd Enzo Who' run. Pete
Can you give us a link please, Pete. It's not so easy to find the older threads since things were 're-organised'. Thanks ..... And on the subject of Enzo Who ? - I found this little pic of a painting by Alain Vilboux ..... ..... entitled "And God created Ferrari"

Jim- I'm guessing you are pussing a speedo in? In race trim, I'm assuming it did not have one. How are you adding it? To where? Zach
Pussing? Not sure about that. Yes the same one in my MK-IV a small SPA computer speedo that tucks under the dash nicely.
