Zack, step back from the computer slowly.... now take a deep breath... repeat after me... I will get this paper done. I will get this paper done. I will get this paper done.
putting! Gee, you guys knew what I meant. Bad typo.... Dale - I'm up all night tonight writing about Shakespeare. Sweet... Tell your daughter to add me as a friend on Facebook. She'll know what it means.
Wow car looks amazing. Why are you using the piper recreation face vent and not the original style Renault one? Small point but im curious. Max
Thanks. Hope all's well with you and yours. Not really sure. Perhaps it's that as with the wheel size I'm not trying to obliterate David's involvement by any means. As you know David used the wider wheels (350 Can Am) as he did a lot of tire testing and the wider wheels were the one's able to test the tires they wanted him to test. Perhaps I'm heeding the words of Michaelangelo: "One should never make something too perfect as it offends the creator." That said you are wearing me down why don't you PM me with a price? Best
I just recieved an interesting email through my website www.p4replica.com: A local shop claims on their website to have one of 2 remaining P4s. I'm sceptical, since we live just down the road from Marauder cars and they used to make replicas of the P4 as well as others. It strikes me as odd, also, that someone would put a Ferrari in the hands of someone with absolutely no exotic car experience, especially Ferrari. Here's the link: http://gscustoms.com/ferrari.html If you could give me any insights as to authenticity, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, Woodsy Comments anybody ?
Did you see the other project that they're working on? http://gscustoms.com/lola.html http://gscustoms.com/lola_painted.html
Haha, well atleast we now know who and where she was painted. I even recognised the yellow body dolly, etc. Everybody knows that the custom guys lay on the best paint ... I must be loosing it because I could not find the Lola link from their homepage (?). Pete
Home Page -> Projects -> Lola or Lola Painted James recommend them in April. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14350
Without anyone wanting to hear, why or why not. What are the numbers of people who are 100% sure the JG P4 is the real thing versus the 100% not the real thing. Just curious to tot up the numbers. Or has this already been done lately? Max
Well Max - That's really asking to be shot down in flames ! I guess what you meant to say is that WE ALL AGREE that it's a damned fine 'reproduction' of a 330P4 berlinetta - and beautifully executed ..... and in that respect - it is THE REAL THING - possibly the BEST P4 REPLICA EVER .... But who amongst us truly believe it has any real claim to the provenance of the missing chassis number #0846 ? Or not ? That is the $64K question. I think everybody knows where I stand on this one.
P.S. And although James Glickenhaus has regulary used the word 'FAKE' in previous postings, to dismiss other people's replicas (and not just other P4's) can we have some constructive arguments for and against, please ?
Hi. When I see the chassis number stamp I will believe it´s real. I believe Tom Meade should know the answer and I specially believe David Piper knows. Best:Staff.
Thanks for your input Staffan. In fact, chassis stampings mean nothing really. Go back to posts #66 and #81 in the 'Poor Man's P4 Replica Project' thread: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7514&page=5&pp=20 You see - anybody can fake chassis stampings. Even 'Horsefly' can do it ! See photos below And I believe you are 100% correct in your last statement.
Or should that read the $6.4 Million Question ? Gentlemen. I should think that most of you will have read some of the postings on this subject in recent months. I have been the main protagonist for the arguments against Jims claims to the provenance of #0846. (Or should that read 'the antagonist' ?) I have tried to keep my posts rational and factual, although, at times, I have probably overstepped 'the limits' for which I apologise both to Jim and any others I may have offended. In a post today, (#40) of http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17616&page=2&pp=20 Jim has stated: As for what I've come to believe, I now believe beyond the shadow of a reasonable doubt that a large portion of my chassis are the remains of 0846 and I'm in the continuing process of sharing the basis of that belief with Ferrari S.P.A. among others. I cannot argue with his beliefs. I think the time has come to put this to a vote. In fact, Max Wakefield (P4Racer) had already suggested this in another thread on the subject only a few days ago. See post #7 of http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18047 where Max wrote: Without anyone wanting to hear, why or why not. What are the numbers of people who are 100% sure the JG P4 is the real thing versus the 100% not the real thing. Just curious to tot up the numbers. Or has this already been done lately? In response, I wrote (in post #8) (Well Max - That's really asking to be shot down in flames !") "I guess what you meant to say is that WE ALL AGREE that it's a damned fine 'reproduction' of a 330P4 berlinetta - and beautifully executed ..... and in that respect - it is THE REAL THING - possibly the BEST P4 REPLICA EVER .... But who amongst us truly believe it has any real claim to the provenance of the missing chassis number #0846 ? Or not ? That is the $64K question. I think everybody knows where I stand on this one. And so, Gentlemen, please post your votes. But before you do, please ask yourself have you read and digested enough of the relevant threads ? Are you sure in your own mind ? Dont vote Yes for Jim because hes the nice guy and P4Replica appears to be just some a**hole with a grudge. Remember what you are actually voting for. It may ultimately change the history of the P Series. Who knows ? If there is an overwhelming vote in favour .... I may just put up and shut up. Or at least, in the future, stick to posting about what I know best P4 replicas !
i would love to vote, but i'm NOT A REGISTERED, BONA FIDE, REAL, TRUE, ACTUAL, SEASONED FERRARI EXPERT/HISTORIAN...!!! Very few folks on here actually are. This is a dumb thread; you need to collect yourself and stop antagonizing... This is really ridiculous... If i vote that it IS 0846, what REAL proof do i have, that's substantial beyond a shadow of a doubt...? If i vote that it ISN'T 0846, what REAL proof do i have, that's substantial beyond a shadow of a doubt...? Now, if you're asking people to cast their OPINIONS, that's entirely different... i truly believe that Mr. G. DOES have 0846 and i think it's only a matter of time before skeptical, rabble-rousers like yourself will be sitting down to a nice heaping helping of crow.
I've been following the threads (and to be honest, still don't know enough to form an informed opinion) but for those who haven't, how about a quick summary pro and con?
Where did you explicitly state that this is an opinion poll...? Why are putting undue heat on Jim about this...? Why do you care...? Is your life THAT unfullfilling...?
Sorry Tillman, but I think that there are enough threads out there already, for anyone who has taken the time to read them properly, to form a valued judgement. And quite honestly, I really daren't post another word on the subject, for fear of the consequent vitriol. See what I mean ? .... post #5 above !
Well, I'm definitely not taking sides on this one. I _have_ read the threads, and I think Jim's car is beautiful. I think that body is the greatest thing on wheels, with the GT40 running a close second. I can't imagine what it must be like to have all those in the garage. However, I'm no historical expert, and all I have to go on is posts in an Internet forum. Everything goes into a "so-and-so said this" area of my thinking, not a "this is a fact" area. So without facts, I make no judgement. I don't think you're helping your case with this poll, but being Mr. Popular doesn't seem to be your goal anyway....
