We're finally on our own This summer I hear the drumming, Four dead in Ohio. D'ya need the chords on that one Jim? It's a dropped D tuning... Are you really changing the upholstery? Now I have to modify my scale model. Nice though!
You obviously haven't been paying attention, Wouter. Suggest if you haven't already got one of these Carpena 1:18 decal sheets handy, you start looking on eBay. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have read this thread and the 'documents', etc.. I have a quick question.......It's philosophical in nature.........I'm sure you will understand............. Ship of Theseus. Thank you.
This is what happens to race cars. They get used/modified/crashed/repaired/scrapped/reborn. The big difference here is that everything has seen the light of day and none of what this car is and what it is not has been hidden from anyone. It is what it is.
Thank you. I have enjoyed this thread , as well as others of yours. I like what you have done with 0846, to bring it back from the 'dead'. I can only imagine what would have been hidden if it was the other 99.99% of people.
Jim, any thought of getting Chris Amon back into the "hot seat" (sorry, couldn't resist) of 0846 anytime in the future? I'm sure Chris "forgives" 0846 since Le Mans '67- he always tells the flat tyre/flat torch/faulty hammer/fire story with much mirth! Enjoyed the recent pics of Jacky in P4/5, and got to thinking about Chris- and are Chris Amon, Jackie Stewart and David Piper the only current P4 survivors? (Jackie Stewart raced a P4,or 412P, at the '67 BOAC 500?) Best, -Peter
IIRC David Piper only drove a 412P in period (0854, both for Maranello Concessionaires, and then in his own team after he bought the car); Stewart drove a P4 at Brands, as did Peter Sutcliffe (I believe he is still around) and Jonathan Williams. Is Jean Blaton ("Beurlys") who drove a P4 at Le Mans still around too? And of course Nino Vaccarella drove 0846 at the Targa Florio.............. Paul M
Hi It would be great to get Chris back in 0846. I've been asked to have her in the Parade just before the Daytona 24 Hour. Perhaps I can get him over. Best
Jim: I'm in Tokyo and picked up a copy of this book yesterday. I'll scan the chapters on the P3, P4, 412P when I get back home unless you already have it. Some great pics of 0846 that I had not seen published anywhere else (LAT photographic and CG/Library pics). Let me know. Cheers, Erik Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'd love to see some of those pictures of 0846, even in l/r (I don't get to go to Japan very often!) Paul M
This book is available for $58 only including shipping to North America. I got it in one week only from Japan. Text is only in Japan, but it contains many unpublished before photos, particularly of 0846 during its early days in life. I recommend it to those who build model cars. Did Piper ever own an aircraft carrier? Looks like even the big boys have been known to swap a chassis or two! From post number 10 in this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=137714010#post137714010
I agree. I still have your business address from the invitation and thank you notes that you sent me for the unveiling of your P 4/5 (I thoroughly enjoyed that day at Pebble Beach, too). Say the word and I'll mail the above 0846 curio to you (instead of just spending it somewhere silly).
