I want a "rabble mob" membership card for me and old guy.

Can someone photoshop that one up??

FerrariChat Rabble Mob Member #........let's start with number ....oh.....I guess #0900 would work. I'll be 0901, old guy 0902, Dr.Tax 0903....
    Wax you want one too?

    Whadayathink? ;)

Cognescenti, you're kinda late to the dance here, and the Straw Man theory has legs with myself as well as Dr. Tax, but in any event, you are just gonna have to "Wait for the book" when Mr. G finally lays it all out, based upon his research.

All this is boiling ahead of the West Coast event, and I would imagine that'll be a big weekend for all concerned. As Dr. Tax stated, the "car guys" will be there.....and you can all have a FRIENDLY chat, gathered around the car.

I agree with Wax, why all the hating, and what does Jim G. have to prove to us, the "rabble mob" anyway?

Heck I'll bet Mr. Pipers phone is ringing all day long now!! With interested P4 fans from all over the world. I'm gonna go sell him some magazine subscriptions and Girl Scout cookies......

Cognescenti, I love that word by the way..use it all the time,.....

You go look for the head of the hammer OK? So the tool bag will be complete.

Call us back when you find it..........

..esoteric...that's another good word........"Meant for or understood by only a specific group. Of or relating to what is known by a restricted group of people.
Confined to a small group. Not publicly disclosed; confidential."

I can't tell you why Piper's phone's not ringing from Jim G.s house. Class dismissed. Old Guy I'd love to know your opinion!!!! You've got my PM addy.

Let's talk frame triangulation....What kind of tires we gonna run on this puppy?? ;)

    Goodyear is #1 in Racing.

Sorry Jim G. for the disjointed posts.....it'll settle down here soon and you can post what you want. I suppose Avons or something would be a more period correct choice of tire as opposed to Goodyear.......

We could call Fred Gamble in Hawaii.....he's retired from Goodyear now but has LOTS of Enzo stories to tell.

Tim has an interesting point. Cognoscenti appears to be Paul's alter ego. He first appeared with the Max W. email. He has now reappeared as a result of Paul's ban. Interesting coincidence.

    Dale,

I agree whole heartedly with your post.

    Speedy and Wolfgang,

If I qualify, count me in on the Rabble Mob!

A fifth example of one of the worlds most valuable cars, the Ferrari 330/P4 has been discovered in Russia. The story is one of politics, confusion and feud.

It starts with the FIAT company selling the licence rights of the model 124/125, a former passanger-car-of-the-year, to the USSR and agree to build an entire car factory in the newly established city of Togliatti, at the feet of the Zhiguli hill in soviet Russia. This cooperation was one of the largest cold-war industrial ventures between the East and the West and seen by some analyst as the start of FIAT's long decline. But that was well in the distant future back then.

On the occasion of the ceremonial opening of the newly built "Lada" factory, the italian leadership wanted to present Mr. Leonid Iljich Brezhnev with some precious gift. The general secretary of the communist party of the USSR was well-known for his love of cars, often driving Mercedes and Rolls-Royce luxury vehicles himself. The FIAT managers finally choose to award him with one of the world's fastest and most beautiful cars, a P4 coupe from the newly acquired Ferrari Spa filiale.

There was one glitch, though. There was no way the bear-like soviet leader could fit the tiny berliner car, not even with the roof removed. Mr. Brezhnev, although best-known for the period of soviet "stagnancy" under his rule, was a person of strong utilitarian ideals. In fact, he had received a baby elephant from the indian statesman and promptly sent it to a circus to perform there, for noone should feed without work.

The P4 did not fare much better. It ended up with the soviet homeland air defence forces, sheparding tri-sonic MiG-25 fighter jets on the runway, suitable, as the low-swinging chariot needed not to avoid the delta wings. It was painted over in standard light teflon grey, except for the areas where the Red Star military insignia was formed by the original "racing red" layer. After accumulating about 1250km, the car was retired during the third year for repairs and ended up in a crate that was later placed in a railway container.

In hindsight, it must have faded into oblivion some years later, when the entire fighter regiment was sent to the arctic Kola-peninsula and new units from Central Asia moved in to the airfield. The sleeping beauty laid in her vault until a few years ago, when a fresh officer exhibited unusual dedication during a tri-annual inventory taking. He recognized that the item marked with the label "Scud.F" could not possily hold a short-range ballistic missile, taking the size restrictions of the container into consideration. The item was inspected, opened and the P4 rediscovered.

The fate of the mechanical godess stayed in limbo for years. Being a personal item of a famous politician, it could have earned a place in a museum or be handed over to Mr. Brezhnev's heirs. After a bitter debate, the cash-strapped Russian Air Force finally laid its hands on the asset. The P4's expected sale face value of 5 to 6 million USD would allow the air force to buy one new advanced training aircraft or revamp two to three Su-27 fighter jets with new engines and avionics. She is expected to end up in a zaibatsu's gallery of fame in Japan.
