Ready to go in...
Damn!!, what an engine. I was looking through one of my Ferrari books and studying (yet again) my favourite road (?) Ferrari the 250LM and noticed that she has that line on the engine cover too, like your P4, thus I thought I would try to find out which P series Ferrari had it first (ie a 250LM is really just a roofed 250P). Looking through the Barchetta site the 166 P Fantuzzi Spyder s/n 0834: http://www.barchetta.cc/All.Ferraris/images/1145/0032-51mm-50.jpg appear to be the earliest car that I can see this wonderful line. You also should talk to Barchetta about 0846 ... maybe Pete
Love that...I don't believe in retro, only reusing the good and building better...Very nice details on the GT. My lifelong friend/Ford dealer is doubting he will get one for me. Ideas welcome I thought that shop looked familiar...archives has pic from something very similar, had a Z and 2000 roadster in it, yes? I still have an Amerispec coloring book Tutto Bene.
I just made the "mistake" of making this thread one of the first I've read, after a few days away. I'm not even going to look at the rest of the board now, because it will all seem so lame compared to this! UNREAL!!! Keep up the great work Napolis!
'Napolis's restoration of 0846, P4 PROVA MO-53, is, in all likelihood, the most often discussed specific Ferrari on Ferrarichat. To ease repetition and still inform for old and new time's sake alike, I've compiled a Chronological list from the former site - divided into Forums, with; dates, topic title, author. i've been following with great interest the threads regarding the p4s and the fantastic restoration going on....as an aside to this, my father spent time with the ferrari team at daytona in 67 as he was trying to market a new brand of driver glove....he's a photographer and i have in my collection many great shots in slide format that he took of the ferraris, the team, and the drivers....i also have framed and mounted on the wall in my studio autographs of bandini, amon, scarfiotti, parkes, rodriguez, and guichet...all are dated by each diver as well.....additionally i have a few of the sponsors stickers that the team handed to him. FRAM etc.,...it is great to see a piece of history come alive again.....
I have also been following with great interest, and appreciate Jim's generosity in posting this wonderful restoration and historical comments. Wax - terrific work for putting it all in one place! Many thanks to all.
Removable windshield frame. This is cool as it enables you to remove windshield quickly to reach the electrics.
We made male/female molds and finished head light covers. Mounted rear glass. Fit doors and side glass. Finisned brake ducts. Built stand for my spare P3 Spyder body. Moving along.
Wow, I love following this! Question for you. Are those original tires or reproductions? The sidewall has a shiny/old look that makes them seem like they are very old. I hope when you drive it, the tires are new! BTW, I hadn't noticed any new "P4" threads and only found this by accident. Will you post further updates here or in new threads? Thanks for sharing, great pictures! Mark
Jim, pls excuse my ignorance, but what are the ducts running off the wheels all about? Is this a brake cooling system? Thx
Mark/Dr The ducts bring cooling air to the brakes. The tires are new. The treads are hand cut. (Fronts- Rears are old and only for building purposes) www.rogerkrausracing.com Best
RE tires. By original I mean original size. These are AVONS. Originally 0846 raced on FIRESTONES which are no longer made. The wheels are also wider than were fitted in 67. They are 350 CanAM width. 11F,15R.
