I’ve decided that I’m going to get out of the car collecting hobby as I just don’t have the passion that I once had for these cars and it’s time to pass them along to someone that will enjoy them. I’m not going through any marital or financial difficulties (both are actually better than ever), but between other activities, I don’t even drive the cars any more and they’re just sitting there and it’s time to clean out the garage. I’m going to keep the 365 GT4 2+2 as it is still fun, but the others are up for sale if anyone wants them.

    1982 Mondial 8, red/tan (a solid 2- car) ~48k miles, 16” and original wheels, factory car cover (rare), $23000

1983 308 GTS QV, red/tan with the usual cosmetic issues, just finishing the major service, $26000

1988 Bentley Mulsanne S, blue/tan, 120k miles, a driver with upgraded round headlights (all factory parts), $16000

Time for me to move on to other interests. I'll get pictures and details loaded in Ferrari ads later this week.

Nice collection of cars, and you are keeping the one I would keep. Good luck to you.

Lightening the load is always refreshing.

    Erik,

I understand your feelings on all this. It is indeed like a roller coaster. One day you want to simplify, and the next you find yourself leafing through the classified sections of car magazines, armed and ready with your checkbook.

As the (most likely) Fchat authority on SZ series Rollers and Bentleys, I'm going to say you're in for a helluva tough time selling that Mulsanne with a bill twenty on her for anything near your ask. They're tough cars to buy and sell, and although anyone with half a brain knows its better for a car to be used than to sit, that kind of an odometer reading will scare away a lot of buyers because remember, people cast a more scrutinizing eye over RRs and Bs, so a lot of buyers want pristine cosmetics in and out which typically means low miles. Now, if your car has just had the $10K hydraulic service and new brakes (esp. rears!) then maybe you'll get $16K. Then you have tires, and right now the only ones that are correct are Avon Turbospeeds at $450 a pop. Not trying to dissuade you my man, just saying that real world dollars for your car is more like $8-10K and at that point, you may as well keep her and enjoy the imperious tingle one feels when getting behind the helm of one of these dowagers.

In any case, good luck. There's an a$$ for every seat.

Hey, cars are an expensive hobby. If they don't do it for you anymore then sell them. People and their interests change. Now this is my opinion but I think you're keeping the best and most difficult to replace of the bunch.

I see you have around 13,000 posts... Think you used enough dynamite there, butch?

    Here's some good advice:

Keep your cars. Take a year off from this site and any other. No car shows, no Speed TV, no car magazines, nothing.

12 months from now, it's a fair bet whatever love affair you once had with the car culture in general, and your cars in particular, will be rekindled.

And if it isn't? What have you lost? Another year stored in a heated garage isn't going to do those cars any real harm. And it just might save you from making some choices you may live to regret. Take it from one who speaks from experience...

Keeping the 365 wasn't exactly my idea, my wife wanted it for herself.

Deck is stacked against you guys, I've been looking to get out for a while. Stopped buying magazines a while ago, only went to one car show last year, only did Cavallino and Pebble Beach once and didn't even get the urge to go back. F1 is a circus and becoming even more irrelevant.

Hate to say it, but I get more out of reading a good book than a blast up a mountain road.
